So for the last 2-3 months I’ve had gemstone on the mind, alarmist like an itch I can’t scratch and I think I’m ready to make my return. I have not played since it was called gemstone 3 in the time of aol. I am aware that a lot had changed and have been reading the Wikipedia off and on. I am hoping the role play aspect still exists and am looking for any advice I can get being basically a new player again. I’m not sure what race/profession I want to play as but am leaning towards either wizard,empath, or bard. Also curious if there is anyway to play this on phone or tablet as I have ample free time while at work. Thank you in advance for any information on this

I'd suggest starting out as a Free to play account. You'll have some limitation/restrictions, but you can read up about them here: https://gswiki.play.net/F2P_subscription

Might be something to look at so you're not just dropping $15 to find out you don't like it. If you do like it, just start paying a subscription fee for your account and you'll instantly be migrated off F2P and all the restrictions will be removed.

Coming back after a long break, the learning curve will be steep. Get lich and learn how to use it, it really changed the game. Be sure to join discord, the game can feel more desolate than during those AOL days, the towns aren't booming as they used to, but you can connect with plenty of people over on discord, which does help a lot to stay in touch with whatever is going on.

Haha, Simutronics is still able to be a subscription for $15 a month? For a text based game in 2023??
