I wouldn't normally ask this of anyone, but there's a guy I work with who's also an old friend of my family and he just had to have emergency surgery which will put him out of work and in rehab for the next 4 months or so.

What happened is the toe of his right foot turned black as a complication of his Diabetes. He had to go to the emergency room where they removed the skin down to the muscles. This was an alternative to amputation, and they're pretty sure they got all the damaged tissue off.

He's going to spend the next 4 months in a rehabilitation center. The problem here is he only has one income, his. He doesn't have any medical insurance because it's not offered through work. He also doesn't have anyone he can lean on, he doesn't have any family left.

In an effort to keep him from losing everything, I'm taking collections to at least try to pay the mortgage on his house for the next few months. If you'd like to help...

THANK YOU! I can take Paypal, payable to GSGothique@Adelphia.net.

Even well wishes are welcome if you can't help otherwise.

Goth,

The hospital will have charity assistance based on income. Social workers at the hospital may or may not provide that info, but it's there - make certain he asks for charity applications and fills them out. We work with hospitals all over the country and they all have something.

HTH.

yeah :) We have him working on that because 4 months of in house therapy on top of the surgical bills will be insane.

but he doesn't have any savings, like most of the rest of us he pretty much lives paycheck to paycheck. I really hate to see a good person be put in the position he's in.

Friend suggested a spaghetti dinner to raise money to help out. Gonna look into doing that over the next few days.

Thanks for the advice though :)
