Yes, I worded the title that way on purpose. I was thinking today about what types of music people here listen to while gaming. I'll post my list with the situation it applies to and you guys do the same!
When dealing with Hagga --Let's stay together, Al Green
When dealing with invasions-- a variety of music by different metal artists, sometimes though I'll listen to "What a beautiful world" because it just cracks me up.
When hunting-- These boots are made for walking
When dealing with a few of my more insane friends in game (ie. Jihna, Kurapira, etc.)-- People are Strange.
Edited because I can't spell worth a damn it seems.

:bleh: I keep it interesting!
Anyways, it depends on what I'm doing, like your list.
Hunting & Invasions - Korn, MM, NIN, things like that.
RP'ing using Aura - Orbital
RP'ing using Elli - Jimmy Buffet (Lime in the coconut) Hehe
I usually just listen to Blackmore's Night, though I've started to put on Rasputina while hunting.

Secrets.
:-X
Go to hell - Megadeth = when pwning someone for any reason.
Jeuno (+rest of album) - Funeral for a friend = When randomly wandering.
I'm ashamed of this next one. .
Evanescence (album) - last summer while my character was in love. :(

I dont get it ... do you have playlists that you turn on when you start doing these different things? Do you select each song as your character starts doing something? Or is this just what seems to be playing when your character's doing something?
I listen to songs on my Winamp playlist.
I have over 1600 and the RIAA ninja-police will have my balls. I am scared :(

Depending on my mood when active in game, it's a tossup between Above the Winter Moonlight, Black Fire, Black Winter Night, Cry of the Brave, Dawn Over a New World, Disciples of Babylon, Fields of Despair, Fury of the Storm, Heart of the Dragon, My Spirit Will Go On, Once in a Lifetime, Prepare for War, Soldiers of the Wasteland, Starfire, and Valley of the Damned.

For me I have playlists for my mood. So basically, when playing the hunter in GS, I open the "Queen of the Damned" soundtrack playlist. Takes like, two seconds.

And when you call me, you have the "since you've been gone" playlist playing?

Dork Alert...
During Invasions I listen to Game Music. Mainly Final Fantasy 3/6 - Save Them! For those of you that played that game, it's the song that plays when you defend Bannon from Kefka in the Mountains of Narshe, or when you hop on a mining cart escaping from the Magitek Research facility...
During the Jantalar war it was a song from Lords of the Realm 2 - Castle Siege. The whole boiling oil concept made that song perfect.
Now... Sitting around socilizing with friends... It all depends on the mood...
Spending time with my wizard's fiance, it's Ebb Tide by the Platters, or About her from Kill Bill 2, or Unchained Melody as sung by U2.
While enchanting, it's a techno song called Flow, by Suede. Hunting... again, depends on how crazy I get. While in the Volcano on Teras, it's Fire Starter by Prodigy...
I have a really weird mix of game music, techno, oldies, and classic rock that I jump between regularly.

While my character is hunting I like to listen to The Punisher soundtrack, or that song from the Beatrix/Oren Ishii duel in Kill Bill: Volume I; Santa Esmeralda- Don't let me be misunderstood.

The FFVII Boss Theme is superb for any intense situation, whether in GS or not.

I have some music that is just generic for all my characters while they hunt. Then I have some playlists that I generally go to when I play certain characters and/or for specific situations.
I rarely ever just start my library at the top and let it run. Like Jihna said, there are definately times that music helps me get into character while I play. It just seems to set a mood for me.
The fake sound of progress - Lost Prophets.
That's my favourite song for a killing spree. :)
Depends on the Mood.
Floyd, Styx, Vangelis, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, Various 80's top 40/Hip Hop, Van Halen, ZZ Top, Boys II Men, Journey, The Cars, Various Classical, Toto, Doc Severenson & The Tonight Show Band, Glen Miller, The Eagles, Paul Simon, Enigma, AC/DC, Billy Joel, Linkin Park, Brooks & Dunn, early George Straight, Alabama, Willie Nelson, and alot of other single songs that fit somewhere inbetween 1960-2005.

 No, I was just stuck on that song for awhile.
I have a bad habit of playing a song until it burns me out.

Exactly. I have different playlists set up for different activities. It isn't a mandatory thing, just something that keeps you motivated.

Go to hell - Megadeth = when pwning someone for any reason.
Futurepwnagevictim says, "Hear ye! I shall lop off your head and shave your chest with my broadsword, at the same time! Prepare to die!"
You say, "Ok just give me a second I have to turn this song on."
>play Megadeth
You say, "Ok I'm ready now."
