It's very addictive, if you like Gemstone then B3 will be right up your alley, it's also the first game I've played in my entire life that made me say "What the actual fuck?!" out loud..

I was waiting on some bug fixes.
Thankfully, a hotfix went in yesterday:

I installed it last night but didn't actually do anything yet. That will happen today, now that they fixed dong clipping issues.

I refunded the game today because for whatever reason, they didn't allow for dong clipping out of my underwear.
I don't want to play in a world where my character is forced to cover his penis up.

I don't usually go for tabletop-inspired CRPGs like BG as I find things like turn-based combat and having to rest every 5 seconds to replenish spells very tedious. But there was a lot of hype surrounding this one and the group of friends that I game with thought it might be fun to play in 4-player co-op.
So, tonight we had our first gaming session with BG3 and I have to say once we worked the kinks out of the multiplayer experience (the game has some bugs and needs a few coats of polish!), we really had a blast! We were dying laughing at our misadventures. We also really appreciated the fact that every member of our party felt useful and it wasn't just about the combat. Everywhere you go there's a lock to pick, a trap to spot, an NPC to deceive, persuade, intimidate, etc. It quickly became clear that having a party with a robust non-combat skillset actually matters in this game and not just how hard you can hit something with a club (although there's plenty of that, too!).
As you may have heard, character creation is...modern. There's no male/female here, just body type 1 and 2 and a non-binary checkbox for gender identity. I'm told the NPCs are also suitably undefined when it comes to their sexuality and will happily hop in the sack with anything that has a hole. Sadly, there are only 8 facial presets to choose from with no customization sliders (just skin color, tattoos and piercings, etc.), but you can rest assured that they're serving sausage and clams at the Golden Corral in 10 different flavors! It works sort of like Mr. Potato Head, allowing you to slap a dick on a chick or a clam on a man. Choose thy dick wisely, adventurer!
Our cocks selected, the illustrious company of Richard Cabeza, Dildo Swaggins, Dirk Dangler and Berry McCockener set out for a grand adventure!

I'm in a FB group for BG3 and people are talking about how the spent hours in character creation, and I'm wondering if there is some hidden feature that allows you to adjust them more.
Character creation isn't a strong point, but yeah, love the rest of the game.

There isn't in the based game, but there have been some pretty significant mods released via Nexus Mods which add quite a bit. Appearance takes no time whatsoever, but choosing the right class for the build you have in mind might. I'm running a Dragonborn Fighter specializing in shields, Shadowheart has been respecced into healing, Gale respecced into evocation, and Astarion into a thief despite theft being broken. A handful of times I've pitched those motherfuckers back to camp as they cause too much drama, but my hirelings actually only duplicate what is brought by those three.

I haven’t played the game but noticed that too. Elden Ring and BG3 disrupted the whole industry just by launching a complete polished game without annoying micro transactions, and all the other developers are freaking out with “lower your expectations!!!” How dare we expect good quality from a AAA game.

Here's the latest Blizzard fuckup that isn't about Diablo 4...apparently they changed the Spanish language for WoW in Latam to where it uses non-gendered Spanish words that don't actually exist, in an attempt to be extra woke, and it literally broke the language.

Blizzard has been on a roll lately with the L's, and so far there's no end in sight.

I love my MMOs, and like I said CRPGs like this aren't normally anything I'm interested in. But honestly, this is a great game. I just finished my second session playing in co-op with friends and we're just having a ton of fun with it. It really feels about as close to the tabletop experience as you can get in a video game.
At one point my friend was looting after a battle and inadvertently chose to loot an ally that died, which of course the other allied NPCs took a dim view of and tried to arrest her. We could have tried to bribe them or talk our way out of it, but we decided we weren't having that and drew on them - and very nearly got ourselves killed! Even the combat can be more than just rolling dice and dealing damage. During that fight my friend was standing too close to a drop off and actually got shoved off the cliff and was basically out for most of the fight! I tried to repeat that maneuver against the NPC who did it, but my poor sorcerer lacked the strength to make it happen. After that we weren't feeling disposed to kindness toward this group of people, so we freed a goblin captive and made a deal with her to get her out alive. We left off at the goblin camp where we're continuing our adventure, now decidedly aligned with the goblins against our former allies.
And that was just a snapshot of what we did playing for a few hours today, our second day in BG3! It's been a great experience so far!

I have no doubt that it's a great game, I played for a few hours, I just need the constant action that an MMO delivers. I can't even play GS anymore without falling asleep after an hour.
I think it's more a sign that after 45 years of gaming, there's just nothing that excites me anymore. At least not until we can actually plug into a simulation.

Yeah, I feel you. Action combat is my jam. Dodging and blocking attacks in real time feels great. Turn-based is the opposite of that and I generally find it pretty tedious. So, I tried BG3 for 2 hours, found it to be typical turn-based garbage, and refunded it. I probably wouldn't have given it another go if not for my gaming group wanting to try it out.

Love that video! I've been trying out barbarian and it's really satisfying tossing enemies around. Not to mention hilarious! We wandered into a cave and fought a mama owlbear and during the fight I picked up her cub and hurled it at her. It flipped through the air and struck mama so hard it knocked her flat! LoL But tossing goblin archers off of rooftops was great, too!

I dove a little deeper into the game this past couple days for something to do until HC starts tonight. My biggest complaint about the game is the camera controls and the alchemy system. The combat is pretty good, the story telling is decent, though, some of it is a little long to listen to. It's also a shame that BG3 doesn't have a physical game manual, there's too many intricate systems and the game would be more enjoyable if I could reference something without tabbing out.
I'm happy with the purchase though, it will get played off and on during maintenance days and such.

If you leave the cub alive you can convince it to join you later on, there's a few hoops you have to jump through first though.

Yeah, the camera control and combat UI definitely feel cumbersome. But the more I keep playing the more impressed I am with just how much freedom you have to approach every situation, combat especially. I did the goblin keep today both on my solo campaign and the group I run with my friends and it was awesome! I found an approach that avoids the main entrance and allowed me to reach an area overlooking the first main chamber of the keep where the priestess resides. So I ambushed them from above, but then one of the goblins started banging on some war drums and about 15 goblins showed up! Fortunately, there was only one ladder up to my position, so I just threw them off the platform to their deaths one by one as they came up to attack me! If I had just walked in the front door I'm pretty sure I would have been very quickly dead!
We ended up in a similar situation in my friend's campaign. We cleared the inner keep using the same strategy, but we forgot that we had bypassed the courtyard, which is teeming with around 20 goblins, an ogre, a warg, and some other stuff. So we used the goblin camp waypoint to exit and ended up right in the middle of all that and we hadn't even rested up! I figured we were dead meat, but then I remembered we had made a deal with some ogres and they gave us a horn to blow to call them in to fight for us. Our plan was to get them killed so we didn't have to pay them anyway, and they made a perfect diversion! The goblins went after the ogres while we climbed up to a more defensible position. We put up some thorns in the way of the approach, broke the ladders behind us to create a choke point, and picked off their archers and spellcasters one by one before their melee fighters could reach us.
It all feels really strategic like not just your build and which classes you take matter, but how you use them, how you position and use the environment to your advantage. You can't just brute force every fight. Like I said, turn-based combat usually isn't my thing and you're right the UI and camera suck, but overall I find the combat in BG3 very engaging. It's just a quality game all around. Really impressive for a game of its kind. I am convinced it's earned the hype!
@Winter, as it happens in my campaign with my friends we didn't kill the owlbear cub and it showed up after our epic battle with the goblin horde in the courtyard while we were looting our unfortunate ogre allies (I also figured out why Lump was so unusually intelligent for an ogre!) and now it's showing up back at our camp, looking for food!

I started leveling a night elf warrior last night, had some shit spawn on top of me and died at level 9, logged out of WoW and played BG3 until 5 in the morning. The game is for sure sucking me in.
I let the bard dude try to remove the worm from my head. He ended up using a screw driver, my eye fell out, he replaced it with a "magic" eye and ran off. Now my character has 2 different eye colors, the new eye I can always see things that are stealthed.

Started it with my brother. We've only put about 4 or 5 hours into so far. We play as individuals that do what they want in the game, meaning we don't collaborate about what decision to make in conversations or actions, we just act as how we feel when prompted in game.
We got the entire Druid's Grove camp slaughtered, probably wouldn't have been my way to approach the situations there, but it is what it is. So far it's been very entertaining.
