Alright, I want to hear who likes what tea, what tea has what properties, what tea tastes like it was steeped from something horrid, and anything else you feel like tellig me about tea, because...yes, I love tea.

I have a nice cup of Tetley tea at the moment. You should try Twinnings Darjeeling or English Breakfast. Yummy yummy. Tea is seriously the best drink ever invented.

05-18-2005, 12:04 PM
It is, if you discount Dunkin' Donuts coffee.. or anything other coffee :P

Mushroom tea, hallucinogenic properties, tastes like shit.

Ahhhh...memories of college. But that was probably the last mug of hot tea I've drank (and that was 5 or 6 years ago).

I'm with PB and Arkans...I really do not like the taste of tea even remotely. Loves me some coffee.

I like the "Zen" tea by Tazo brands. It's green tea with lemon verbena, spearmint, lemongrass, and "natural flavors."

For decaf, I like the the decaf green tea by Tazo. I think the name is Lotus.

I actually only drink cold beverages, so I make them as hot tea and then add ice.

I know a couple people who do this, and I've tried it, but I've found that some teas just HAVE to be hot to be palatable.

Earl Grey for instance.

I love coffee but sometimes I want tea.. usually Stash English Breakfast or Irish breakfast teas. I also like Celestial Seasonings True Blueberry.. drink it cold and it tastes like juice. And Bigelow's Constant Comment. When I am not feeling all that great I drink Sobe's Green Tea because is has echinacea in it.

What's echinacea? obviously somewhat medicinal, by the context clues, but...elaborate?

I usually don't drink hot tea, but I have to say that Stash's English Breakfast really is good. I like their Green Tea also.

It's negative, because it is saying I dont like something. Sorry I couldnt be all fluffy about it...I find tea - the taste and the smell - rank.

Alright, then I won't be surprised anymore. I guess you're just about as blunt as a bowling ball, most of the time.

edit: Mind you, not necessarily a bad thing, just uncommon on these boards, from what I've seen.

It's an immune system booster. It's recommended that you only take it a week at a time then stop a week if you are taking drops or pills.. but since the content in Sobe's Green tea is small enough, you don't have to worry about that.

Parker

Huh. Interesting bit of info. Sobe's expensive though!

I like chai tea a lot lately. Anywhere from the powder form, to picking up some tea bags yesterday (I think vanilla chai, yet to try it), to getting it from the coffee shop.

Green teas are also good. Can't be more specific because my stash is at home, I'm at work.

I had a friend try some tea created from Marijuana... he just got hungry, and stupid.

Though tea created from Shrooms would probably kill me. :weird:

Earl Grey with some milk and sugar. I thought it would taste horrid until I was forced to try it. Not too bad.

Green tea is great for you. Helps boost metabolism, lower cholesterol, boost immune system, etc.

My 4 year old loves chai latte, and chamomile if she's sick.

Don't get me wrong, I drink coffee daily (mmm Dunkin Donuts coffee) but tea serves a purpose for me, too.

Also Panera Bread's iced green tea concoction rocks.

yes, milk (cream) in some teas is good. Very british, as I understand it.

It's good in earl grey, and in this jasmine tea I have, too.

I used to drink tea in high school with lots of milk and sugar (coffee for that matter too, and now I don't touch the stuff). Probably a phase for me as I don't any longer.

I, however, cannot stomach the smell of Earl Grey. I can't remember tasting it before; the smell is horrid enough.

Skirmisher
05-18-2005, 02:19 PM
I'll admit to using milk in tea when i was like 6, but not since.

I don't drink a large variety of teas though so it surely is possible that some accept it better than others.

Parker

I have a vanilla powdered creamer at the house that's delicious, especially when you mix a little bit with most black teas, and with ou-long (sp?) teas.

Skirmisher
05-18-2005, 02:22 PM
Haven't you seen the videos of kids lighting those powdered creamers on fire?

Hehe....all I can say is dont smoke and drink tea at the same time if you use those things.

Parker

I don't smoke, well, not often. but wait, you can light them on fire?

Czeska

Earl Grey's smell comes from Bergamot oil. It's one of those like it or don't things. But as an aside, the oil smells great in candles, and has antidepressive properties.

Also balances out the medicinal smell of tea tree oil nicely when making soap for men!

I used to be like that, until some chick demanded I try it at least once.

Also, powdered creamer is flammable? *inner pyro awakens*

I'm going to have to experiment when I get home, with that powdered creamer.

I prefer half and half (even the fat free kind) to powdered creamer in tea.

I haven't made soap in like a year... might have to do that and have some tea tonight.

Don't think soapy men would stay on the trees too well though, but it would be amusing to watch!

I love iced tea. Iced barley tea is one of my favorites because it is naturally decaffinated.

Fot hot teas I like Japanese green tea.

I don't drink coffee. Ever. The oils make me go :puke:

In the age of super-caffeinated I have become somewhat of a tea FREAK!

Earl Grey, Earl Grey Green, Vanilla Caramel, Ceylon, Prince of Whales, Raspberry, English Breakfast, Irish Breakfast, Cinamon and much, much more is what I drink.

Bigelow brand wins by a long shot, followed not-so-closely by Twinings.

I read a book about the cartel once, and it explained in detail how to make a firebomb out of powdered coffee creamer, matchstick heads, and a tennis ball. Was how they killed people in prison. Was a awesome book, i think it was called "the man who made it snow"

anyways, tea-wise Oolong tea with honey. MMM.

Oh goodness...love tea, have tons of them.

Orange Pekoe, Earl Grey, Raspberry, Honey Vanilla Chamomile, Plantation Mint, English Breakfast, Red Zinger....

I make them hot and cold...and sometimes mix flavours.

Fav before bed > Sweet Dreams

When sick > Orange Pekoe w/honey & lemon (real lemon)

Not a big fan of spicey or cinnamony or green teas.

Oh, and yeah, need milk...but only in the pekoe :D

Ice tea maker:

8 bags green
2 bags Blueberry
2 bags lemon
rosehips
sugar
ice

Brew. Guzzle.

Also, I hate peppermint tea because it inspires childhood flashbacks of being forced to drink it any time I was nauseous.

I have one of those iced tea makers and I find that it makes really weak tea when you put the bags up in the filter bin that it pours the water through.

For a while I tried doing it coffee-style, where I'd cut the bags open and put the leaves in the filter thing, but it would overflow and get tea leaves everywhere.

What I've found to work best is to put the bags in the receiving pitcher and put nothing up in the filter thing; this way the pitcher acts like one large tea cup and has plenty of exposure time. I can make 3 quarts of tea with just 6 teabags this way.

I also use Splenda instead of sugar. I think my addiction to diet soda has warped my perception of real sugar.

Czeska
05-19-2005, 10:36 AM
Coke with Splenda rocks.

It's just too expensive to use Splenda in large quantities to me.

Fresh Brewed Iced Tea - No fruity flavors - No lemon - 1 pack of sweet & low (unless it's already sweet tea)

Started drinking Iced Tea because when I was in Jr High & parts of High School some places would charge you for refills of coke. So I looked on the menu and tea had free refills.

H8 it when the only tea places have is flavored. Nobody makes sweet tea better then grandma.
