Sounds just like my life before I got a stressful daytime job.

Stress >insomnia.
You don't have to thank me for the cure. I'll even provide the stress myself ;)

Feh, what do I have to do to get that much to deal with in my life?

It's not fair, I'm virtually stress-less.

It was sarcasm. If you want that Medal of I Have the Most Stress, why not make it a pretty medal at least?

My doctor prescribed me Nitrazepam when I had stress related insomnia. I found that even after taking that, I 'd still be awake all night, just without the use of my arms

Anyhow I found this amazing technique of meditation just an hour before going to bed a FAR more reliable way to get to sleep.
See your doctor.
They 'occasionally' get the right thing for you, and my recommendation (?) is relaxing breathing ect.

Catnip tea. No, I'm not kidding.

yes, yes...please tell me you are, Czeska

No, I'm not. It's a natural sedative (and fever reducer, for that matter.) If you read the ingredients on "Sleepytime" and "Tension Tamer" teas, both have catnip in them.

It doesn't affect humans the way it affects cats. I have some dried catnip that I grew, if you put it in a tea ball and steep it for about 10 minutes, it tastes like a mild chamomile tea. It'll knock you out within half hour.

No, no. I'm not going to believe it. I've drunk (sp?) both of those teas, and was a fan... ungh.

Sedative, you say? And where exactly can I get some catnip of my own to grow?

<---huge tea fan.

Czeska can also hook you up with a few syringes of Special K.

Anything in syringe form, I'll pass on. If I can't smoke it, or it's not green, I won't touch it.

I bought one catnip plant from a local garden shop, for like 98 cents. By the next summer it was like ..9 plants. Catnip spreads like plague.

Or hell, buy some at a pet store. Home grown will be stronger though.

Also, I only like the special K with the red berries.

So how strong is the flavor? Should it be combined with anyting else? I can't see catnip being that yummy...

It really does taste very similar to chamomile. I just add a tiny bit of sugar to it.
You can combine it with whatever you want, just make it decaf unless you want to totally negate the purpose. I've mixed it with peach teas, that's not bad. Or throw some rosehips in it.

mmm...I'm not a real big fan of chamomile, but I have a cinnamon tea at the house that I'll try it with...usually masks most flavors, is decaf, and hell...I just love it.

I'm all about the healing teas. I can cure decongestion easy with one kind of tea. It's gross, though. I still take a pill instead.

Parker

I can gag down most of those, but they're not my favorite...

Marshmallow tea <---tried this yesterday, wasn't very good.

Not sure if it has any healing propoerties, but it had better, or I can't imagine people drinking it.

Marshmallow tea is good for high blood pressure.

I've learned a lot of my herbalism knowledge on an as needed basis. I have more books on it than I can think of right now.

Me and you should get together sometime. I've got the best-tasting teas in the entire world, in large quantity, and I love them.

You share your wholistic (sp?) teas with me, and I'll make you happy with mine.

Tea party!

My cupboard is too full with tea. I need to expand.

Parker

I've got a bookshelf full...

Wait..this is a board with Brits in it!

...brits = huge tea drinkers.

brits + Parker = more tea knowledge.

Parker + More Tea Knowledge = happiness....

I'm starting a tea thread!
