I want to create a bard that never leaves town, just sits around picking locks, lore singing, unlocking songs, purifying gems....

I have no experience with lockpicking or the pool system. Can I rely on that to generate enough experience to fill my resource cap every week?

Should I try to manage some combat skills? 2x pick/disarm/perception or just 1x?

Any build ideas? This is what I came up with for my level 33 bard..comments?

Physical Fitness: 20
Harness Power: 35

Bard Spells: 33
Telepathy: 35
Magic Item Use: 35
Mana Control: Elemental 35
Mana Control: Mental 35

Disarm Traps: 70
Picking Locks: 70
Perception: 33
Arcane Symbols: 5
Minor Elemental Spells: 4

I know rogues get priority in the pool, but I would still imagine you would earn plenty of experience just picking boxes all day. Might be a bit tougher towards the end of the month when people start hitting their soft loot caps, but I would think you could do 50k experience a week, depending on how much you play of course.

If you're just going to be picking boxes and loresinging all day then it's pretty easy, just max out lockpicking, max out disarm traps, max out perception, max out that one skill that helps ensure you don't blow up gems and you could probably dump the rest of the points in bard spells.

Oh yeah, 15 ranks of arcane symbols for scarabs. And oh yeah, might as well grab some trading skills if you're gonna be selling stuff, at the very least you'll be selling scarabs, might as well pick up some extra silvers.

Happy with this build!

I got the locksmith pool figured out, and got tpick all setup and wow that makes it very smooth. Getting silvers and xp with no problems, but maybe it's just a busy saturday.

Tpick seems to often use the .8 and .9 modifier lockpicks Detrimental/Ineffectual but I wasn't able to find any of those quality picks....

I got all the other lockpicks except Vultite 1.80 / Mein 1.85 / 2.00 .... any idea where to snag these missing picks? I'm sure having the lower quality picks would help my experience bar fill up faster.

I don’t think you can get the .8 and .9 picks from a shop, I think you have to make a bad quality copper pick or have a pick be broken/repaired enough times that it lowers the quality.

I’m not sure about vultite or mein, might need to have a rogue make them.
