Are anyone on these boards perhaps OSHA certified that could tell me if it's actually worth the 10 hours it takes to get the certification?

Would really appreciate it.

Yeah what are you looking to get into? OSHA is involved in just about everything we do at my work with all the chemical, etc exposure.

If anything its a transferrable skill that you can take with you anywhere you work... thus it would be worth your while to get OSHA certified in whatever you're occupation is, especially if your current employer is willing to pay for it.

It will look good on your resume and could add to your salary if employers are willing to offer higher compensation for those extra certifications. Some employers also will use that as a barrier to entry for certain job postings thus requiring all applicants to have it.

So the general consensus is that it's worth it?

Yes. Any time you can get a cert that will be worth something in several job markets go for it. Worst case scenario you're out 10 hours, best case you have one more thing to make you better than the next job applicant.

In most cases, yes, but in some no. It all depends. If you are a supervisor, hell yes. If you are not a supervisor, I'd suggest maybe taking other courses that could expand your field, then again, you could be fixing to get promotions in your field of work. No one wants to stay at the bottom.

Go for it though. If your employer is paying for it, what do you have to lose? Ten hours really isn't that long.

What Anticor said.

It's nice resume filler.

As far as OSHA is concerned, throw in any protection agency dealing with anything other than law enforcement, they're nothing but a second rate mafia as far as I'm concerned.
