whats the point of coup de grace...
if you got the critter down to 10%-50% why wouldnt you just attack it again instead of using a less acurate coup de grace...
(side question) what the heck is warcry, and what does it do.

Because some things have massive amounts of hp and another attack might not kill it. Because you gain an AS bonus from doing. Because its cool.
Warcries are a warrior guild skill.

Coup would be a much more flashy and neat way to kill something. Thats about the only thing I can thing of, besides it possibly allowing you to take care of critters that have "turtled up".
As for warcrys, they have many uses, as there are many warcrys. You can raise your AS and DS. Force creatures into RT. Lower a creaters DS, etc.

Coup is good for Pvp too. All I have to do is hit someone then coup them for a guaranteed kill.

Anyone have any logs of coup de grace in action? I got curious too after seeing so many people had it in the other CMAN thread.
warcry is a warrior only skill that is learned through the Guild and mastered at 63 ranks, with new warcries being learned at 20, 30, 40 50 and 60 ranks, I think.
the more advanced the warcry, the more taxing it will be on your voice. typically, only someone who suffers tremendously from mental retardation will use horland's holler.
cry is extremely helpful for dueling, making it not helpful at all.
growl and bellow are probably your best bets for prolonged hunting.
Um... there's a hidden roll involving your influence bonus as to how well a cry is executed.
Also, I completely agree with your sentiment about coup de grace, which is why we only saw sorcerers using sacrifice like for a week after its release.

Before the downtweak I would say coup was worth it. These days I only have it for flash reasons. I'll post some logs when I find them.

Actually, I use sacrifice nearly every hunt. An extra 200 mana is very handy. :)

[Roll result: 171 (open d100: 68) Bonus: 13]
You lunge towards the horned vor'taz, intending to finish it off!
You slam your oak-handled greatsword into the side of its face with all your might!
Blood pours out of the horned vor'taz's nose and ears as pieces of jawbone protrude from its cheek!
The horned vor'taz's horn dims, and she falls to the ground dead.

You slam your oak-handled greatsword into the back of its head with all your might!
Brain matter now decorates the area!
A lesser faeroth emits a shriek as he goes still.

You are beginning to feel a little fatigued.
[Roll result: 143 (open d100: 76) Penalties: 6]
You lunge towards the sea nymph, intending to finish it off!
You make a powerful double thrust with your weapons at its throat!
Throat penetrated all the way to the spine as blood sprays all over the place! What a mess.
The sea nymph falls to the ground and dies.
The heady flush of your spectacular kill makes you feel invigorated!
Roundtime: 8 sec.

Mblow is not an AS mod. It's a DF multiplier.
Get spin attack in the guild, it's good for onehanders.
It's worth training in, if not for simply being able to do this:
[Roll result: 187 (open d100: 68) Penalties: 10]
You lunge towards the kobold, intending to finish it off!
You drive your hands deep into the kobold's abdomen, grabbing the spine and pulling it forward! A loud *CRUNCH* later, the kobold's torso falls backwards over its body's sagging legs. Ouch.
The kobold crumples to a heap on the ground and dies.

Coup De Grace is the only non-refreshing cman worth it imo.
I use it after I delimb and toy with things with my main char. Basically says, I"m bored with you -- you may go now. :D
