Due to time invested in my career I haven't played since 2010/2011 (I actually thought the game died out :shocked2:). I've always had fond memories of GS and now that my time has opened up a bit, I've thought about returning. So my question is this: Since I've long ago sold all my support characters, I'd be returning with absolutely nothing. What would be the recommended class to come back and start anew as? I see quite a bit has changed in the decade I've been away.

I'm not exactly interested in starting with a large initial investment to see if the memories are the same, I will be returning with a basic account.

There is an NPC that provides full spellups on a time schedule and an automated locksmithing pool for boxes. You really don't need any support characters. Just pick a profession you enjoy and you'll be fine.

Since you mentioned investment, squares require more $$$ for gear to be fun, so definitely go for a pure. I'd recommend a cleric or sorc. Both are easy to level up with little to no gear, and the former are still cash cows due to sanct so you can even supplement your gameplay with free weekly silvers later on.

Savant would be cool, but it looks like I'd be waiting for the heat death of the universe for their release.
