I had to laugh...
That cartoon is funny. But conservatives trying to control PBS is not.

not a fan of NPR or PBS, but the program comparison in Backlash's post is interesting.
I'd like to see the conservative view of the liberal programming that PBS did fund.

I listen to NPR alot because of the news, current events, and science pieces; and the fact that the local broadcast is stationed out of University of Houston with UH staffers which is my alum.
I dont know if I'm unique but I like listening to current events and the news that is reported without someone's spin or interpretation. I'm smart enough to form my own opinion without someone else having to tell me how to think for myself. Thus I'm not a huge fan of Fox news nor CNN news. I do like CNN-HN because they dont have enough time for spin in their 30 minute segments.
So does PBS have liberal programming? I could not tell you because I rarely watch it now that I have access to the History Channel, Encore, Discovery Channel, and the whole ESPN family available to digital customers.
Does NPR have liberal programming? Yes, but not to the extent that I feel imposed upon. I just simply switch to music station or a CD if an article/piece comes on that imposes upon my sensibilities.

I tend to think that NPR offers both viewpoints and reports stories with an objective approach. Liberals get mad at NPR because it's too conservative and conservatives get mad at NPR because it's too liberal, at least that's the story in my neck of the woods.

I'm simply not a fan of visual/picture stimulii. I can't tell you the last time I turned on a television.
NPR was very very frowned upon in the house that I grew up in for being biased on both sides. My dad liked to read books and analyze situations in the context of similar past outcomes. History repeats itself, all that, so I am biased toward the printed word as that is how I grew up.
