View Full Version : TWC Questions
So, I haven't played my warrior in quite some time and I am entirely bored of 2HW.
I am considering dual-wielding morning stars for a while instead, but I've never done TWC and I had a few basic questions about it as a warrior.
1) Is there any point in aiming/open ambushing (at least as a pre-cap goal) now that there are the new WEAPON skills?
2) If so, how do people train ambushing now? I know conventional wisdom used to be train it to 30 ranks and stop but that's from a long time ago.
3) Along the same lines as above - with the new WEAPON skills, is MoC beyond 1x/train recommended? I know, for example, it factors into PUMMEL but I'm not sure to what extent.
I guess, really, if anyone has a skeleton outline of basic "essential" per-level skills to train that would be plenty enough help. Or, if an updated guide already exists somewhere, I'd be happy to read it myself if someone can point me to it.
Also, 76 trains currently if that matters for any of the above.
Thanks.

I haven't found a reason for it, but my TWC warrior is only level 30 right now. And in all honesty, I hate (with a passion) that they removed the use of AMBUSH <location> to work from the open. I don't use macros (aside from ones that will start a script for me, like ;sloot) so I type out my commands and now it's a fuck ton more typing if I have to AIM <location>, then attack, then AIM CLEAR. If some people like the change, good for them, but I don't and I wish they would have left AMBUSH work from the open and just added AIM for those that want use that method.
I haven't tried to AMBUSH from the open to aim a shot since the change and because of the change I stopped hunting one of my characters. 20+ years of muscle memory using AMBUSH <location> and they fucking remove it from the game when hunting from the open.

See info/rant above. I personally won't bother with that skill on my TWC warrior.

It's always nice to try and keep MoC up to 1x, at least to 90 ranks (in my opinion). This way you offset the FoF for 4 creatures in the room, you can unfocus MSTRIKE against 5 targets or you can use a focused MSTRIKE and hit a single target 4 times.
I have learned to enjoy the use of the new weapon techniques with my TWC warrior. He uses WEAPON FLURRY and makes great use of WEAPON RIPOSTE since he uses edged weapons. The only thing I hate about the weapon techniques is that they're not used automatically. The GMs really need to create a flag to use them automatically or not. I know there's a lich script that will use them automatically for you, but I don't remember what it is.
He's also maxed out on CMAN Parry Specialization and Stance of the Mongoose. I see Mongoose trigger a lot and when it does he gets prompted to use WEAPON RIPOSTE.
He also has 3 ranks of CMAN HAMSTRING, I'd say he sees around a 60% of putting a target prone using it right now. Both weapons are used against the target when you try to hamstring, so that's a bonus.

You can declare an AIM location inline with the ATTACK verb:
>att leg
You take aim and swing an ornate gilt-edged katana at an Ithzir adept!
AS: +524 vs DS: +470 with AvD: +40 + d100 roll: +74 = +168
... and hit for 74 points of damage!
Powerful slash leaves the Ithzir adept without a left leg!
An Ithzir adept falls to the ground grasping her mangled left leg!
The Ithzir adept is stunned!
R>att eye
You take aim and swing an ornate gilt-edged katana at an Ithzir adept!
AS: +549 vs DS: +395 with AvD: +40 + d100 roll: +75 = +269
... and hit for 112 points of damage!
Slash to the Ithzir adept's right eye!
Vitreous fluid spews forth!
Seeya!
