Yes, they got nerfed hardcore. They used to be sweet. Now they are worthless.

They still crit fairly decently. Better than your average fire/ice/lightning/earth flares at least.

I'm still confused as to how you tell the difference between Stovel's acid and normal acid flares. Any indicators on the weapon to mark the difference?

Acid flares suck pants. Vacuum flares are teh bestestest.

I don't have the messaging at hand (mostly since I don't play anymore), but Stovel's have something about a rainbow colored liquid, IIRC.

When did flares get nerfed? My character's waraxe still flares to 60 last I checked or do you mean crit-wise?

crit wise.. the actual flare damage ranges from 1 - 70 on most flares, depending on how resistant/weak the critter you are attacking is to the element.

acid crits are pretty good, but really, I have no statistical evidence to prove this, but I use acid and lightning flares and they seem to be pretty deadly on the instant kill side.
