View Full Version : Age used as an excuse for idiocy.

Why is it that if you haven't graduated high school that it's an excuse for being stupid?

Aww don't mind Warclaidhm, he's on 13. What does it matter how old he is? Does that give him an excuse to be stupid? I don't see why being 13 means you can't act like a normal human. I don't care how old you are, it's not an excuse. I'm tired of seeing parents say the same thing. "I'm sorry, he's only 16, he gets out of hand sometimes." That's not an excuse. Just because you are young doesn't mean that you have to act like a complete jackass.

Immaturity is a great reason. Becoming an adult is a hard thing to do,some more than others. Think of all the dumb things you thought or did when you were a young teen. Imagine if you did those same things now? Id always rather someone doing dumb things be young as there is a chance that they will grow up.

I have to agree with you.

While it can be used as an excuse in certain situations (ie, where a certain level of maturity that a teenager in most cases just wouldn't have, due to lack of experience), being a "teenager" isn't leave to act as if you have zero common sense, zero sense of maturity and zero respect.

When I was a teenager, granted I wasn't the most mature person in the world (hell the same can be said now, fifteen years later) ...I still "knew better" when it came to pretty basic things... If I were playing Gemstone, it wouldn't have taken me long to get hip to the game, figure out what is and isn't acceptable behavior and so on.

I don't expect a 13 year old to act like a 30 year old. I just expect them to act like a normal person. Yes, I did stupid things, however being 13 isn't an excuse. I expect a teenager to be immature, however I expect them to act somewhat normal and not like an idiot.

<< I expect a teenager to be immature, however I expect them to act somewhat normal and not like an idiot.>>

With this i can totally agree.

The point, I think, is that most 13 year olds will at least try to act like normal humans, with the occassional lapse in judgement that can be attributed to age. But when people like Warclaidhm say "I'm only 13," I'll have to agree with Sintik's frustration, because in that case they're not even trying. Just the same way people go, "I had shitty parents, now I'm going to be a fucking wacko criminal."

People seem to think they can excuse any behavior instead of just taking responsibility for it themselves.

Age does play a roll to a point, after that it's just that person being a moron.

There are too many dumb people to use that simple of a generalization.

At least, like Tendarian said there's a chance it will eventually improve, however small that chance may be, it's still there ;)

Cept...Warclaidhm being 13 is just a pose. He was either 12 or 13 when he started...like, six years ago.

Uh. 2 or 3 years ago, right? No way he's my age...

Bob is alot older than 13, or a Super nerd. People used to mistake me for older than i was when i started playing, but the way Bob carries himself is alot better then even the above average 13 year old.

Too bad you don't have a grown ups grammar skills.

Something bob has, which is atypical of the average 13 year old. But whatever.
