Question from computer illiterate

So, basically I'm trying to set up a site where some of my classmates and I can keep in touch over the summer. Sort of like a blog I guess, but for a group of people? So maybe like a small forum or something?

Any advice on how to go about doing this?

You'll need a host with SQL Sever database capabilities if you want to use a forum like this one.

There is a link at the bottom of every page from the makers of this forum, which is open source (free). I went with PHP BB (http://www.phpbb.com/) which is very similar.

Easy to instal and configure. Tons of mods out there that are easy to add.

You can also use diaryland and make a webring for only certain people, I believe.
