You gaze at the coffer and see. . .
A scratched fel coffer which contains:
A curse data holder (in)
An emerald (in)
A mithril fang (in)
Some silver coins (in)
What's this?
Haven't opened it yet.

Almost looks like some kind of trap placeholder.
Maybe they haven't coded for using phase (is that the spell that looks inside?) for certain traps.
It was 416, Piercing gaze.

When an object is cursed, it gains a curse data holder. This is the cause of the phenomenon of being unable to sheath a weapon after being cursed, even though the sheath has been used to hold the weapon before.
I don't know how this would get inside a box, though.

That bug has been around for along time... it is safe to open the box.
Once you open it you can GLANCE at the holder and it used to message everyone in the room.
"Xyelin glances at his curse data holder."
Well, once I opened it they item was gone.

Sometimes they stay. You can even curse a box to put it there on purpose.

Heh I got one from a critter I cursed one time I think after I killed it. I picked it up and glanced at it, and a GM poofed down and stole it from me.
Can you still EMPTY "some important documents" into other containers?

Was the fang related at all to the curse data holder?
