Just curious as to what any of you might be doing in terms of working out. I'm having some trouble in that I'm bored as hell with my current routines.

I'm going to go work out shoulders, abs, and some cardio in about 30. Right now I'm thinking shrugs, arm raises, seated shoulder press, reverse pulls on the cables, and trap raises with a dumbbell.

As far as abs go, I generally start with 30 crunches on a Swiss ball, 15 leg lifts, bicycles, knee pull ins, oblique crunches, and then side to sid with a 4 kg medicine ball.

I have to use the eliptical because my toe is still retarded from foot surgery and running on the treadmill is too high-tension.

I never run on the treadmill. There's an indoor track above the basketball courts in the gym closest to my room, and its also gotten nice enough that I can go running outside.

There's no TV when you go running outside though :(

Currently I do a brisk walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes at the ass crack of dawn. After work I try to do another 60 minutes on the treadmill or I might go skating.

That's a pretty intense daily routine, but I'm only doing it because I want to lose this pregnancy weight :P

Ordinarily, I just do a brisk daily walk after dinner -- 20 minutes or so.

I'm only doing light yoga right now, very light since I have only 5 weeks till the baby comes, and if its nice out, then I walk for a while. I miss the gym some days.

A few notes. I workout mon/tues/thurs/fri. Mondays and fridays are my heavier days, so for instance I would add 2 or 3 reps to most of the tuesday exercises for friday. I listed 3 sets, that is with my main weight. Before any exercise that I use free weights with I start off with a 4th set that is 10lbs lighter than the weights that I normally use. Normally I use 40's for my arm raises, so I would start off with a warmup set with 30's, then do 3 sets with the 40's, and so on. Anything with 'w/' is grouped together. For instance, after I do arm raises I immediately do a set of crunches before resting.

Mondays:

3x10 Arm raises w/ 3x15 crunches
3x8 side raises
3x8 front raises w/ 3x10 (each side) side crunches
3x10 shrugs
3x8 e-z bar extensions w/ 3x12 reverse crunches
3x12 french presses
3x8 dumbell rows w/ 3x20 with a neck harness
3x6 bent over side raises

Tuesdays:

10 minutes of riding a stationary bike
3x15 bench presses w/ 3x15 crunches
3x10 inclined bench press w/3x8 leg extensions
3x10 fly w/ 3x10 (10 on each side, 20 total as before) side crunches
3x8 incline fly w/ 3x30 calf raises
3x8 e-z bar curls w/3x12 reverse crunches
3x12 alternating curls w/ 3x15 knee bends w/ 3x18 neck harness
3x6 concentration curls w/ 3x10 leg curls

Oh yah, gotta love the ps2. I drag that thing out there (my garage) everday and watch dvd's. I'm the only guy I know with stereo surround sound in my garage, heh.

My regular workout takes about 90 minutes. I do cardio for 30 and then hit the weight machines. Then I hit the mat to do 3 sets of 10 crunches front, sides and reverse crunches. Little bit of yoga to stretch.

That doesn't help, I know. I am not sure how to describe the weight machines.

I climb up and down railcars all day, and I usually end up walking 2-3 miles on uneven terrain per shift.

I have them all but I'm only on 2 and it's really good. Plus, looking at Carmen Electra for an hour has it's perks.

You should. The DVD's have a cardio routine and striptease moves, not in the same segments though. If you're used to working out I recommend you start at DVD2, DVD1 is just like a basic routine and warm up. Of all of them, 2 seems to have the best cardio routine.

And again.. watching Carmen Electra bend over...

Just that fact that you'd work out to that and enjoy it is actually pretty awesome!

Routine:
5k a day
Monday - Shoulders/Calves/Abs
Wednesday - Back/Biceps/Quads/Abs
Friday - Chest/Tricepts/Hams/Abs

Legs aren't worked out too hard cause I run.

For my upper body, three days a week I go to the gym and do three sets of each of the following:

Start with standard bench press, add 10 pounds each set. I start at 10 reps for the first, 8 for the second, and 6 for the third.

Shrugs.. I raise 10 pounds each time until my max, do 10 on each set

Triceps.. I reccomend using a pulldown rope instead of a bar, it forces a lot more control and you'll deffiantly feel the difference.

Rowing.. Just three sets increasing 10 pounds each time, just make sure you arent using your back to pull it.

Seated Shoulder Press... you can do it leaning against the back if you want but if you really want to feel it, dont let your back hit the seat, I usually go up by 5 pounds on this one, it's a bitch.

Lower Back...? Yah... well im tired at this point and it's easy as hell.

Curls.. I prefer a seated curl at 10 reps per set, if you want i'd suggest starting with a heavier weight for the first set and slowly working down.

Pullover.. I love this machine... works triceps, shoulders, pecs, and abs all in one. I usually do two sets of the same weight and move up for the last.

I go to the gym every other day and work upper body, I play hockey at college so no real need to work lower body... my abs sound a lot like yours so it's not worth posting. Good luck.

Ack, running every day!

I can't run. If someone was chasing me with a large knife, I would just lie down and play dead.

If my eyes are closed, they can't see me!!

not much cardio, but
mondays work on chest,
tuesdays, back and shoulders
wednesdays, triceps/biceps
thursdays, all leg/calf/hamstring, etc.

all I use are weights, no resistance machines.

I walk alot, so I figure that takes care of my cardio, and once I really succeed at quitting smoking, I'll be able to push myself more.

An hour and a half isn't really that intense for cardio. You said ass crack. I'll post my stuff later when I'm not supposed to be doing a development report.

It is all a state of mind. You are looking at it negtively.

Try this, weigh yourself and see your improvement then write it down. This will give your mind something tangible.

Diet is just as important as excercise but state of mind is even more important.

As they sung in "The life of Brian"

Always look on the bright side of life.... etc...

I hope everyone gets that reference.

So Cat, just keep on watching Carmin and get that heart rate up!

Umm quick question, why measure your head? Is it fat?

I don't think the guys here would admit to measuring every part. Measuring is healthy if you are trying to gain not lose (just this health freaks opinion).

Well ok, I dont measure my head, was just an exmple. But I want to lose inches not just weight, so i keep track of the inches more than the weight.

Five hours a day throwing your precious boxes around.

Only pays $10.50 an hour (everything over five = 1.5x)

but it's the best damned workout you can get, plus full benefits and 3k a year for school.

I can't even fathom paying to go to a gym... and if I run its gotta be outside.

yeah, I had my rotator surgery last October. I'm finally released to normal activity. I'm not allowed to lift weights ever again, or even do push-ups. I'm comtemplating becoming a swimmer as I hate running. Or I could just hang out on the couch.

Turned out rotator cuff is not torn. But I do have tendinitis, despite not actively playing any sport in the better part of two years...

Anyway, I'm looking to buy a pull-up/dip station for my room next year. Debating between that or the Bowflex Select-Tech weights I've seen on T.V. lately, any opinions are appreciated.

There was this ass-fucking-hole in the workout room today doing these absolutely idiotic stretches that bared absolutely no physical health benefits. It served only for him to look like an even bigger wussbag pointing his idiotic ass at me everytime he did that crap.

I'm actually thinking about getting a part time job with them or Fed Ex for the extra scratch and the fact that it's something physical to do rather than a tech job. I figure a few hours of that after work and I'll shed some of my baby fat (I ate like 3 babies over the winter  )
