Since the posts were lost and I'm not sure if they'll be back, just wanted to comment that this game is still around and being played by several of us.

We will welcome any and all new players. Keep in mind this is a game that is still sort of 'a work in progress' but the people are nice and it has some good variety. One thing they are going to implement are new type quests where you find treasure maps in chests and another type of quest where an NPC will tell you what they want done and you do it. I'm not explaining this very well, but if you go to the website and search the April forum for quests it will explain it much better. You can read the whole forum to see what they have planned but it is rather long.

P. S. It's free too!

I got pointed to that about a year ago.
Got to level 3 and realised, I'd wasted all this time and money on GS so I'm not about to start all over again.

Plus, I couldn't take their version of the ACT verb, letting you be able to do ANYthing.

Actually, it's a setting in the MUSH client that makes it look like you can do anything, but other people can see the parenthesis around what you do. (I know I thought the same when I first started but I changed my setting and now the parenthesis show up)

One other nice thing... I've seen a couple of people say OOC things over the thought net and your next thought from them is... I'm in jail. They really don't put up with OOC. (That is if you're on the Lightside and I've heard if you get way over the top on the Darkside if the players don't kill you there the GMs also do things to those people)

I can understand about the time and money for GS because I still play GS too. This is just a nice little game (with a small population) that has a few things GS doesn't have. Just thought a few people might like to give it a try.

They also have lots of games within the game which may appeal to some people. (such as chess, checkers, their version of go fish and if you have a deck of cards you can play tons of other games... we have poker nights there sometimes)

Just a few random thoughts here. It's definitely a work in progress, but I'm proud of what we've accomplished, and I'm proud of the players, on both sides of the game.

If you asked me to name three things I'm happy about, at the moment, I'd say, the craft system, the multi-room homes, and the ships. (All of which need huge amounts of improvement, of course.)

As the previous poster said, all you have to do is type:
config +actflag
and you'll see what other players do with the 'act' command in parentheses.

The first annual Messini Wine Festival starts the weekend of October
7th. If you'd like to contribute ideas to the game for it, now's your
chance! Food, drink, games, actioned fluff, (non-essential items). In
general, the themes are wine, harvest, and autumn. Send your ideas to
Roguespell@aol.com

Wine Festival:
Friday night Oct 7: sailing race.
Alteration merchant.
Padding merchant.
Saturday night Oct 8:drinking contest, pie eating contest, etc
Sharpening merchant.
Enchanting merchant.

So far, no times posted but I would assume mostly evening/late evening EDT.

I played that SMAUG gs um..*spinoff* for like three months because a friend of mine couldn't afford GS.

Personally I told myself every time I logged in that it would be my last time. I couldn't stand it, even using the Wizard as a client. (also tried several others).

It's not my cup of tea.

Edited to add:

The Owners/GM's don't answer their damn emails either, which was a sign *imho* that they didn't really care about the players.

Guess that means you won't be at the festival then.

P. S. I do need to add that the GMs had like a two month run where nothing (at least nothing the players could see) got done. Not sure if real life interfered
or what, but anyone that played from middle of July to around the end of Sept. probably would have been discouraged. I know I was.

I'll have to say that I'm not sure whether that next to last post was criticizing us for being too much like GS, too little like GS, too much like SMAUG(that one's unlikely!), too little like SMAUG, or combining all the points of GS and SMAUG that the poster hated. (Probably that last one.)

I'll admit that we've been a lot more unresponsive to players than we should have been, a lot of the time, this year. No, it didn't mean that we didn't care about the players. And, I'm making a very strong effort to make sure that people get answered and helped, now.

If anyone wants to try things out, the Festival of Masks is running this weekend, which means a slightly loonier time than usual.
