Saw this link on Fark...

http://blogcritics.org/archives/2005/04/30/105557.php

This person's top ten list for strangest movies was as follows:

1. Mulholland Dr.
2. City of Lost Children
3. Happiness of the Katikuri's
4. A Clockwork Orange
5. Vanilla Sky
6. Suicide Club
7. Naked Lunch
8. Pi
9. Six String Samurai
10. Songs from the Second Floor

I'm of the opinion that this list is pretty weak...

So, I was curious, what's the most screwed up move you've ever seen?

Again, this isn't a "This sucks!!111@" "That BUlowzz" kind of argument. What was the strangest movie you've seen?

For me, there are two.

1. Crash
2. The Doom Generation

I would Say "Naked Lunch" comes in a very distant third...

What do you all think?

Thursday. That movie is wonderfully fucked up.

Pi was way, way weirder than Mulholland Drive. I don't think I've ever seen a stranger movie than Pi.

The Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb was very strange. As was Tetsuro Iron Man.

Fallen

Solaris. That movie was odd. I liked it though.

Heh, I’ve seen 6 out of the first list, and the two you mentioned.

Seen Tetsuro Iron Man too. That rates up there on the strange scale.

Surprised Zardoz didn’t make the list.

Just wanted to add MY pick of the list the OP posted.

I have to go with Clockwork Orange. Saw it at a midnight movie as a teen... properly prepared through a little smoke in LA.

It was the most violent movie I’d ever seen, and the coolest, with an awesome soundtrack. The theatre, where the Droogs meet up with Billy’s gang was the scene that really hooked me.

This is kind of spur-of-the-moment, but I just watched the movie "Falling Down" on Starz, and seeing Michael Douglas play the roll that he does in that movie was just fucking weird.

I agree with this one. Haven't seen your #2 movie though.

Howard the Duck, any movie with quack-fu is automatically bizzare.

Edit for typo that Peam was nice enough to point out.

City of Lost Children is fantastic, as is Clockwork. I'd have to add Donnie Darko there too. Seriously odd, very good flick. ExistenZ is another off the wall flim from Cronenburg, and you can't forget Videodrome.

I actually paid cash money to see that.

Wish I had spent it on The Cell.

Took me a few attempts to crack it.

Killer Kitten

Salo

I think the subtitle is 'The 100 Days of Sodom' or something like that.

Very disturbing.

Aside from that I agree with Soulpieced. The first thing to jump into my brain after Salo was definitely The Cube.

I saw ExistenZ after the Matrix, so that took some of the bite out of it.
12 Monkeys was an odd one, for sure. I think that's probably my favorite strange movie.

I think in terms of strangeness, David Lynch and David Cronenberg have set the bar pretty high.

I will have to check out this Tetsuro movie though...

What's it about?

I just can't think of anything stranger than "Crash". I honestly don't know if it's possible.

Okay, so it took me a few days to remember the name of the movie (had to ask a coworker for it). I'm slow.

Also try Ichi the Killer. Fucked up doesn't begin to describe it.

The thief, the cook, his wife and her lover.
the one with the coke bottle!??

Some movie which I cannot recall the name but had to do wth a inn and the girls that ran it were cannibals.

Thirteen ghosts ( I think that was the name) was a tad bizarre to me.

Bizarre ones I actually enjoyed.. Magnolia, Five corners, Falling down.

For me I've always found Kubrick movies to be on the bizarre side. Although I agree Lynch is pretty out there and I've never seen Cronenberg flick to my knowledge.

Akira is pretty simplistic when you begin to anaylze it. But then you can say that about pretty much any weird flic.

Another weird but cool movie is Run Lola Run. Serial Experiments Lain is also pretty twisted.

Easy Rider has its moments too.

Naked Lunch was definitely fucked up. Of course, so was William Burroughs. The book was even worse. I did a paper comparing the two in a "literature and film" class in college.

StrayRogue

Burroughs was a nutcase anyway. Strange how he was the longest survivor of the beat generation. Heh, even after he shot his own wife.

This is one of my favorite movies, the parts I thought were bizarre though was Jack Nicholaus speech about Aliens and when they go on their acid trip at mardi gras which seemed kind of out of place with the rest of the movie. Although if you watch the making up documentary on the DVD theres some hilarious stories about the Mardi Gras scenes.

Yep, That's the one! two parts right?
That movie was just odd for two hours of film.
