After doing some reading, I have realized that Paladins have changed a lot since they were introduced. If anyone could please look over my stats and skills as a Level 42 Human Paladin and offer some advice on what to change to utilize the new changes. Thanks in advance for any information that can provided.

Perception is good to keep at 1x, it’s cheap and useful for a lot of defense rolls.

So thoughts:

2x shield and 1x dodge is a lot of points and dodge in full plate in shield has harsh returns. Should be able to drop dodge and survive just fine.

25 religion lore isn't needed as much anymore as 1615 kneels without the lore. 1630 does get some bonus kneel percentage, but you need to ward and 1612 (Champions Might +25 CS) no longer exists. I would drop lore to get 1x spells. If there are still points for lore I'd get summoning instead which helps with 1625 spell level and CS of spell put in the weapon.

MOC plays a bigger part now with weapon tech (Brand New). With the dropping of dodge try to hit 30 MOC. This will help flurry which is an attack that will swing at 3-4 seconds at a single target with a short cooldown. So at 30 ranks, two attacks, single swing 4 seconds, then another swing at 4 seconds. This number goes down with more AGI / DEX and faster weapons. You are likely using a falchion or handaxe so I'm going to guess 4 seconds.

Oh of note. Shield strike mastery also fires off for a free shield bash on the flurry activation. You can also chain Sanctify imbued in weapon so for a 4 sec RT you get a spell, a shield bash and a weapon swing, then another imbued spell and weapon swing. I can post a clip if interested in seeing the screen scroll.

Thanks a ton for the information - I have been talking to a few people and they suggested dropping shield to 1x and keep 1x dodge? Would that be a better option or should I keep the 2x shield for shield mastery options? I am also going to up my perception to 1x.

If you're using a shield as a paladin you're most likely going to want to keep training at 2x. If you use a large or tower shield, it might benefit you to not train in dodge since there are diminishing returns. That being said, my paladin is 2x with a tower shield and 1x in dodge.

I'd reduce PF to 1x, try to go as close to 2x CM as possible, and bring perception up to 1x. Lores can be left off for now.

These are rough numbers but for shield training I believe you get around .5 ds per and dodge is .3 because of plate and tower shield? So 2x shield is 4/0 and dodge is 5/3 it is much cheaper to get shield and get more DS. Mental points I've found are a premium on my paladin too.

More spells at lvl 42 should be able to get 35 paladin, 7 minor spirit. That'll help with warding for sure.

I would love to see the clip of that - sounds awesome! I am trying to catch up on all the new shield and cman skills that are available... tough to do when I work so many damn hours.

Just going to post here instead of starting a new thread since I'm in basically the same boat.

33 trains, tower shield, morning star, augmented chain. Trying to keep perception and PT up because SMR sucks.

It's working fine now, but nothing you hunt at my level is really challenging, so I'm trying to avoid future problems. Keeping survival up for now because stuff like the hollow tree thing on the way to EN also sucks.

Thanks!
