Hi all,
I love my heroism clasps as offensive x/day spells for my wizards. I am wondering what are the best defensive spell items for wizards? My bag of trixx belt is currently 1/3 as I sold one of my other x/day items. So just curious to hear from other wizards what their favorite complementing defensive spell via item/scroll is?
My DS is pretty high as a wizard, but honestly more DS never hurt anyone. I am hunting Nelemar currently.

A bit of overkill but I'm almost always running 101,107,613,618,712,1712 for defensive and 211,215,606,1606 from x/days while hunting in Nelemar as well.

Yeah i have spirit alts who can buff me up with spirit spells so more interesting are non-castable on other player type x/days like 215 606 etc. What are your favorites from those?

I'd really say just 618 for the maneuver defense while running 215 and a Nervestaff with it as well for stacking benefits. But I do love the huge AS/DS boost this all provides.

you can imbed 319 into gems with your cleric, It's kinda lackluster for non clerics imho though. But yeah it does show up on scrolls also.
310 would make a nice x day item though.. but also can likely be made by gem

Yeah basically just wondering what to watch out for this DR and also if something is really great but at a previous spellbound, i would look for it in secondary market.

1611 would be a neat one...a cheap imbed i always have on a wizard is a 102 rod.

319 sucks for any non spiritual caster. The activation is based on cleric CS...
Don't overlook 102 for a bolting wizard. One on the easiest to find items with the best DS gains for the # of uses you can get.
712 & 613 are excellent scroll finds as they're both DS/TD and a small bit of maneuver defense. 613 also helps with sheer fear.
120 is the best imbed spell for wizards. 307 gives you more AS and DS that can be imbedded, and 313 is a slightly weaker 120.

Any non-mutant wizard should never have problems with DS even self-spelled. Between the invoker (if you are in the Landing, sounds like you may not be), others casting spells on you (especially if you MA), imbeddible spells others have mentioned, and the scrolls/items you either find hunting or in pawn/gemshops, there is zero reason for a wizard to spend money/BS on x/day items for DS in today's game.
Having said that, I admit to checking Spellbound every DR to see what is there. It feels like most spells have cycled through there at some point in the many years the shop has been around. If you want to dabble, I would suggest looking for spells that are self-cast only and on the rarer side. Things like 307, 613, 712, and 1119 have tempted me in the past, and I think have made multiple appearances. If you have the resources, 1109 and 1750 have both been offered for 100K BS. 1109 isn't as useful for a bolting wizard as it only adds melee AS, but I think this is one of the few ways you can access the defensive benefits of that spell as a non-empath.
