Let me rephrase this...

What armor rank should a casting cleric train for? I have no intention of her using weapons to kill creatures with, as she finds dirtying her hands barbaric.

most people will say "aim for 30 - 35" so you can wear brig.
if you can get a good set of crit padded doubles, stick with 8 ranks. (or is it 6 :duck:)

I'd still aim for Brig.

Double- 8 ranks
Brig- 30 ranks

I'd go for brig.

For empaths and clerics there is no spell hinderance from doubles.

I had my level 60 Cleric trained for Brig and found it pointless and until I decided to convert him he had been wearing 1x DCP Doubles. I guess if you plan on getting hit a lot Brig is your best bet thou.

You probably won't get a cleric to 33 to get enough ranks for brig.

Doubles for you. 8 ranks.

I use brig, I get hit when using that lovely channel option with some of my spells. If you aren't going to channel your spells later on, then go for doubles.

Clerics should shoot for Chainmail, AsG13 for the most ideal physical protection. I believe you'll need 50 ranks for 8% hindrance.

Brig is 35 ranks, double is 8 ranks.
Leather breastplate, on the other hand, is 15 ranks. I'd see how you felt in that before going all the way up to brig.

If your DS is adequate to not be hit most of the time, stick to doubles. If you find yourself getting tagged then shoot your armor up to brig to see if it lightens the blows.

Hinderance drives me nuts, I'm in doubles.

Just put my empath in brig, she hunts a ton, and it's making a good difference. The hindrance is annoying, but not as annoying as bleeders everywhere.

I wore leather breastplate. Found it was the ideal mix of protection and hindrance. Failing a cast of 317 or 312 cause of hindrance sucks so I tried to minimize that.

I had also worn brig, chain, doubles and found that cuirbouilli and leather breastplate were my favorites.

my cleric wears doubles. i've thought some about training her up to brig, but she doesn't get hit too often, so i don't much see the point yet (she's at 67 trains now). maybe when she's older.

she hunts in guarded most of the time, using macros to switch quickly in and out of offensive when she's using bolt spells.
