After decades, it’s finally about to be launched, anyone else excited about it?

BLZrizz
12-24-2021, 11:35 AM
Yes, except for the part where we basically have to wait another 6+months minimum to start seeing images…

But also quite excited for being able to tell the atmosphere composition of Earth-size planets, which should indicate whether any of them are habitable or even have intelligent life already on them.

I can't believe they delayed this shit for the … okay, for the first time.

BUT STILL.

Very much so. Looking forward to seeing the results down the road a bit.

Isn't there some crazy high possibility it won't unfold or some shit right? I thought I heard that on NPR the other day...

What an amazing accomplishment so far though.

Kinda cool to see the project finally in space after hearing about it for a decade or two. Here's hoping it's everything they say it will be. If so, those hubble pix are about to start to look like some grainy pixelated shit in comparison.

Also, it has kinda seemed like the US government has been increasingly trickle disclosing about UAPs as Webb approaches operations. Curious timing. Perhaps unrelated.

It is now in it's place 1 million miles from the Earth.

Now it's 5+ months of adjustments, tests and calibrating before we see the first images.

Just the fact we have something we've put in a planned orbit 1 million miles from Earth that can send back to Earth hi-def images (not only images but other data as well) is amazing to me. I still have cellular dead spots when I drive through town, but we can do this. Amazing.

I'll be glad in a few months when it takes some pictures and we get to see those first images. Hopefully they won't be blurry and it actually works well.

They are going to take blurry images to assist in the wavefront calibration process. We are talking about adjusting the lenses to tolerances like 1/10,000th of a human hair so the mirrors act as a single mirror. Amazing stuff. Same technology we use for perforMing lasik surgery.

Adjusting a mirror a million miles away within 1/10,000th of a human hair....

It's feats like this that make me marvel at the human race and how far we've come in such a short time.

With the amount of moving parts on that mirror, it's an achievement in of itself that they were able to get it into orbit without shit breaking.

They did a full stack tank cryo test on starship tonight as well. A lot of exciting shit on the horizon.

How is it underwhelming? They took a photo of a part of space that had pretty much nothing from what we saw before, and with the JWST they saw all of this. That’s pretty amazing.

The first JWT was just.. meh. Looks like a hundred other images we've already seen. Yes, the tech is mind blowing and the innovation spectacular.. they just picked a picture that was not great as the very first image.

Sorry.. you're probably more likely to die first from some sexually transmitted disease from something non-human than I will be to sleep apnea.

And I wish I could care enough to... well care... but the world will be better off without you.

It must be tough, going through life without a functioning brain.

Let's see if you can still figure it out.... There is a key word in the post of mine you quoted that would have tipped off anyone with an IQ above 12.

Really, really concentrate..

I'm going to give you a hint (because, let's be honest, you are probably too fucking stupid to get it on your own..): The word in that quote starts with the letter "s"...

Aww. Isn't that special.

I don't insult everyone with the same insults.

I specifically call extremely stupid people, such as yourself, retarded or stupid.

That's not an insult... that is a statement of fact.

Case in point: Makkah came here all upset and triggered and just started thrashing around.. much like you did when Trump became President. Then he posted something so stupid that even YOU could possibly see that he was wrong (I'm probably giving you way too much credit now...)

If you don't want me to call you stupid or retard... stop being stupid and retarded.

In your case, you can't help it... your lack of intelligence defines your entire existence here.

Maybe stick to being still triggered by Trump.. and posting in your pervert creep thread.

Images and spectra from the James Webb Space Telescope suggest that the first galaxies in the universe are too many or too bright compared to what astronomers expected.

https://www.space.com/james-webb-space-telescope-chemistry-planet-forming-disks

The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST or Webb) has unveiled an assortment of chemical compounds embedded in the disks of gas and dust surrounding three low-mass stars that are about five to 10 times less massive than the sun. The "chemically diverse" compounds that Webb spotted include organic molecules like carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, acetylene and first detections of benzene, as well as the life-friendly water. The stars studied by Webb are only a few million years old, which means the chemicals spotted by the telescope will ultimately be inherited by planets and their atmospheres that will form in these cosmic nurseries, astronomers say.

Fucking awesome!
