View Full Version : Roll for trap detection

Ok, anyone know if there is a roll for trap detection or is it an automatic thing if you have the right amount of training? Here is why I ask, my capped rogue, who at the time had 135 ranks of perception checked a box and did not see a trap, consequently when I went to measure it the bug jumped out.

I have since raised his perception and am going to get it to 2X, for a number of reasons, not just picking.

My guess is that there is a roll, and you had plenty of skill with just your disarm training alone. But you critically failed the roll, and it was like a negative open roll and its just really really bad luck. I dont know that I have ever missed spotting any traps with just 40 ranks of perception (with the proper disarm training & 404...)

Not sure how it works exactly but this is a good idea. Might as well 3x in it, it's a great cheap skill for rogues and helps with spotting traps on boxes, spotting bandit traps, and helps with SMR and SMRV2 defense.

That is pretty much what I was thinking as well, it was just really crappy luck, especially since I cannot recall not seeing a trap since he was like 10 trains and that would be, a VERY long time ago. Hey open rolls work both ways I suppose.

It was already on my to do list post cap, it is now just going to get moved further up the list. :spin:
