Tonight was blind band night. I took the wife out to dinner then went and saw a band called Wilco play at the Verizon Theatre. I cant remember of the name of the duo that opened for them, but Tweedy and company rocked the house for almost 2 hours and 2 encores.

This was my first exposure to Wilco which bills itself as alternative country. The sounds that emanated from the stage covered the genre spectrum from country to rock to alternative rock, to thrash. I thought the main stage crowd below us were going to go mosh several times during the night.

Tweedy got a good laugh from the audience when he was starting up a slow song - really focusing on the acoustic and some chic on the front row was yelling something at him... he stopped the song and said "STFU man" (unabreviated). She disappeared after that.

More than half of the songs were above average in quality and talent. I think about 5 of them I liked alot. All in all it was an interesting treat to see a new group play in a genre that I've never heard before.

Anyone else here ever heard of Wilco? What are your thoughts on the band?
