My mother was admitted to the hospital this week with a cancerous tumor in her large intestine. They surgicated and got it all out and her chances of a full recovery are excellent.
I've been driving down to Pittsburgh every day to stay at the hospital with her. She's a really gutsy person but post surgery she's in a lot of pain and of course is scared to death because of the 'C' word.
Mike has kept the house neat, paid the bills, fed the animals, done the laundry, watered the plants and dealt with all the other things that are ordinarily 'my' jobs. When I thanked him for being so great with this crisis all he had to say was that my mother needed me and this was no big deal.
I can't believe I met this guy in a strip club. I am so lucky!
Thanks Mike, you're the best and I love you.

He sounds like a real jewel, hon!
I'm glad to hear your mom is expected to fully recover. I can imagine how frightened she is. It's really great that she has you to be with her, and that you have your wonderful husband backing you up while you spend time with her. :)

That's really cool, Killer.
Yeah, I don't have a husband and never have. So, hopefully I can have a supportive or at least understanding man like you do.

Bingo, my error for not addressing the point of the topic.
It's during such times of great need that the true hearts of those people who are our friends and family are made clear.
Your husband is showing you the remarkable traits that I'm sure made you fall in love with him in the first place.
Wonderful news that your mothers prognosis is so good and my best wishes for as smooth a recovery as possible.
PS: Don't forget about yourself in the chaos as you need to take time to rebuild your own physical and emotional strength from time to time in order to be there for your loved ones.

I cooked breakfast for my family today. And then proceeded to do all the dishes like a good man.

I didn't think it was all that amusing, I am more interested in the shower that occurred before the squeegeeing of the door. :D

You folks are way too funny, and how'd you find a picture of my ex boss in the shower Wezas?
Thanks everybody for your good thoughts, she's still in the hospital but if we get lucky she might go home Thursday.
And I haven't been a stripper for 25 years Kuyuk! It was a good job and a lot of fun, but at my age there's this gravity thing going on that you don't want to mix with unclothed dancing. You'd end up causing widespread panic, rioting and looting would ensue, the world might even end in an apocalyptic ball of nuclear fire from all the friction. Nope, too terrible to contemplate.

Yay for Mike! Mike DOES rule. Kimm, you're a lucky girl.
I was told about your mom before I read this so we had maintained good thoughts for her during the weekend. It was relieving to hear that she'll be fine. Thank God for small miracles. :)

Mom is down to one IV line, all the rest of the tubes were pulled. Today for the first time she was allowed to have some food, just broth and Jell-O, but she said it tasted like nectar of the gods.
She walked a bit today, too, and has started physical therapy. She is doing great, especially considering she is 78.
Best news of all, the biopsy came back on the lymph nodes and they were clean. This means the cancer was just in the mass they removed and she doesn't have it anymore. So she won't need chemo or radiation treatments.
Back on topic, tonight Mike took out the trash (generally my thing), fed the cats, cooked dinner and bought three rose bushes for the garden. LOVE that man!

Regarding food: Be prepared to try lots of different foods at first as she may not stomach her normal favorites well immediately.
I found it frustrating but also interesting how rapidly my mothers tastes could change from day to day and week to week after her first surgery.
Easy things like applesauce and jello and fruit slices with alot of juice seemed to work best in the beginning.
I'm so glad to hear they think they got it all the first time.
Great news!

I think we need pictures of the 6' stripperness....and glad everything is starting to look better for your mom, good to hear the cancer was isolated it's always devestating when the test says the cancer has spread and the nasty battle is about to come.

Great news, hon! I'm so happy for your mom, and for you and the rest of your family. It's really good to know that they got it all and mom doesn't have to go through chemo and/or radiation. :)

I am glad to hear your mom is doing well. Your hubby is a gem. The last thing you need to think about when someone close to you is sick are the little things.
As a side note strippers/ex-strippers rule. I had a stripper as a roommate a few years back. Very interesting time in my life.:saint:

What sux about being an ex stripper is when I say 'Well I used to be a stripper.'
The response I invariably get is 'Just furniture or did you do walls and decks too?'
So much for being a glamor babe.
If I ever figure out how to work the scanner I'll post a pic or two of some of my costumes, back in the day. I think they were very popular, I can still remember the shouts of 'Put it on!'
Any tips on picking up a stripper?

Well, if you're not fussy about who you pick up a great come-on line is 'Want some coke, honey?'
If you aren't a druggie or are fussy the best way is to engage her in conversation and act very blase about the whole stripping thing. Appreciate her act but don't turn into a drooling idiot with all blood gone from the brain into the penis.
Strippers are only people, they'll tend to seek out those who appreciate them. They also tend to like guys who like them for more than a quick lay and bragging rights.
What if it is a quick lay and bragging rights?

Obviously not. But I did bake him a chocolate cake, since I lack Jello and soft foods.

My mother has been discharged from the hospital and is back home.
I mowed her lawn for her. I never mowed a lawn before. She said that that fact was rather apparent.
So she's totally back to being her pre-hospital self. Yay!

That's great news, hon! I mean, about your mom, not about the lawn. But...what the heck! Lawns are like hair. A bad cut is only bad for about a week. ;)
Killer Kitten

<g>
I was pretty pleased with the lawn, considering I did it mostly without hands. My mother wasn't, but that means she's back to her old self.
If I rescued 5 children from a burning building she'd probably remark that I should have put the flames out and saved the building as well.
I love my mother, but I've never actually met her standards. That's fine, she was WAY too nice in the hospital. I'd rather have her well and pissy than sick and nice.

Heh. Does anybody ever actually meet their mother's standards? I don't feel like I have a right to exist on the same planet! :D
