I guess we have the first snippet of the upcoming changes:

[4:22 PM] Estild: The current idea for Rapid Fire (515) is that it would have a baseline -1 second castRT with no cooldown. However, it can then be evoked to grant a -2 second castRT, but after it wears off, the base version of the spell goes on a 2 minute cooldown and the evoked version goes on a 10 minute cooldown. The evoke cooldown can be reduced by -1 second per EMC rank (so can get it down to 5 minutes with max training, benefit is capped at -300). The baseline achieves the numbers we're after, but also gives wizards the opportunity to use it as an offensive powerup (but forces a decision on using it due to the incurred cooldown penalty). It's possible to have 1035 work similarly.

Seriously wtf? Can they just stop already?

They nerfed rapid fire when they added RT to it. And again, when it made spells cost 2x mana if cast within the 1m CD time. Nerfing it further just adds another unusable spell in our sphere.

For real. Isn't this good enough? Why does it need to be nerfed even further?

It's quickly reaching the point of like why even bother casting this spell? I'm sure they'll blame it on bots.

I wonder if they are also going to make it self cast only, sure sounds like it.

Why does it feel like Wizards have been under review for over 5 years?

Why does it feel like Wizards have been under review for over 5 years?

Because every time they adjust something to nerf an aspect of wizardry, someone goes and finds a way to still be a solid hunter and defy the GMs. So they have to constantly keep making adjustments (nerfs, lets all be clear on this) to the profession to make being a wizard a chore.

For them supposedly not having time to code Savants they sure do seem to have a lot of time to devote to nerfing and rewriting entire classes.

Why not just use all of that time and energy towards creating Savants and they can bake the nerfs in right from the start?

Holy shit, I was being facetious when I said this, but according to Hebrewtoyou on Discord this was actually given as a reason for why they need to nerf spells such as 240, 515, and 1035:

well, hang on - the examples I was given were that people can trivially receive mana from share-bots

And Estild mentioned "mana bots ruining 240!!11!!" too:

Unfortunately, mana isn't a real limiter. It takes minimal effort to circumvent. Especially with teleportation being easier in the Hinterwilds, it would be trivial to teleport back to a node, get mana from a mana battery character, then head back out. When Spirit Slayer (240) was first designed, we anticipated the 40 mana cost would limit its usage, but now, a lot of Clerics and Empaths have 100% uptime with it while hunting.

This is just all kinds of insane now.

So first of all they are saying that clerics and empaths eventually get too much experience to the point where they have so much mana they can keep one of their more powerful spells up nearly 100% of the time. Can someone please tell me exactly why this is a problem? Isn't the whole point of games like this is that you gain more and more power the more experience you get? "Oh no....someone 2x+ cap is more powerful than a level 40 character that just learned 240..we must nerf this!"

Also the worry is that someone will teleport back to town, get mana from a "mana bot", then teleport back into the hunt so they can continue to use 240 if they increased the mana cost of 240?

This is just so asinine.

I'm sure they'll be nerfing mana sharing soon enough here and blame it on bots.

Why do people on Discord keep going along with this shit?

I don't think Estild understands that when you level up in RPGs, your character is supposed to become more powerful. Otherwise why not just kill a handful of rats and then quit the game entirely?

It's so stupid. We are talking about way post cap characters (or characters sacrificing a lot of other skills to get 3x in harness power) being able to keep 240 up 100% of the time, and even then I'm gonna call bullshit on "100%" of the time because 240 would eat up 80 mana a minute, no way a character is keeping that up 100% of the time during a hunt unless their hunts only last 2 minutes before they run out of mana or they are using enhancives (how dare they!) or society skills (doubly how dare they put in the time and effort to make their characters more powerful!)

Just make everyone a warrior already and be done with it. Why bother gaining access to newer spells and more mana and other abilities to make your character more powerful when apparently they want everyone to be a level 40 warrior.

He thinks this will drive more people to P2W vs. just driving more people away from the game entirely.

He's not wrong.

This game should have been dead years and years ago... The number of actual people has no doubt dwindled.. but the amount of accounts has relatively remained the same.

I hunt the scatter on my empath with 140 and 240 up 100 percent of the time. I’m definitely not out there long to fry though and I have a T5 mana stick. During DR on my 3s team I essentially had two characters (mage and rogue) just sending mana (and keeping 515 up on him) so that he could obliterate everything quickly. So I’d imagine this is a viable strategy in other areas.

Absolutely. I have no doubt a team can keep the mana flowing to have all sorts of spells up 100% of the time, but that's part of team hunting and having more powerful characters grouping together and what not.

I just don't see your average 8 million experience empath hunting with 240 up 100% of the time, unless they have a lot of enhancives or using their society abilities, but again those are choices and time sinks you complete in order to make your character more powerful which is the whole point.

I agree it’s all part of hunting for groups to have an advantage. I’ve been up in the scatter with my empath since cap. I didn’t start taking advance of 240 until 10-11m xp once I pushed everything into the right lores. But I’ve had no problems keeping that and 140 up for the duration of his hunt which is much quicker than my wizard with 20m xp can do. It’s probably more advantageous to do this in the scatter because of the biggest chunk of so return with that poofing.

Evidently he thinks that we'll just keep buying shit from HESS and keep grinding that xp as he deletes any progress we make, and we'll just keep doing this over and over again. I guess that's the end game of GS. Sounds like fun. The guy is monumentally unsuited for game design if he actually thinks that balancing out some math is all that goes into making a compelling game that will retain its audience, their interest and their wallets. He's also got this inflated ego driven largely by the expansion of the player base during the covid era, and since Wyrom is too hands off to rein him in,
he'll just proceed fucking things up and alienating long term players. One would think that eventually the tide would turn, but your average GS player is seemingly willing to take literally an infinite number of simu dicks slid in between their cheeks, so it's very probable that this pattern will continue.

I glanced at the thread again in Discord and saw a conversation about SK515's and the changes. Someone else mentioned putting 3x EMC as the no CD point, which was near immediately called out because it would impact the SK.

I wonder if that is the real reason it didn't change. Either way that ended my toe dipping in that Discord thread.

I mean, my mage is a really weird mutant, but I'm not 100% viable as a non-bolter, swinger just yet... Once I'm close to 2-2.5x cap, I will be. Right now it takes a shitload of scrolls to push my swinging attack high enough to hit anything around my level.

Went water lore for the title. Plan on getting more air lore, currently working on maxing my spells. Will eventually max out cman and shield use. Right now, I can push my swinging AS up to 424, with phoens, bravery, and heroism. Bolt AS is 502 normally (with voln), 552 with enhancives and extra spells, and higher if I'm with a bard.

I should mention, I have an 8x fusion shield with some ridiculous spell aim orbs that gives me a combination bonus of +18. And I defusioned my 8x hcp reinforced leather last duskruin. It's got +23 dex between stat and bonus. My falchion is +42 perfect with some crit weighting. I'm working on bringing that to +50 slowly.

My level 59 warmage gets his swing up to 370 (once ensorcell triggers, other wise it is 360) and that's with his enhancives for OHE and self spelled - he doesn't have any use of phoens, bravery or heroism. He swings a 7x/T3 (6 CER crit weight) falchion, has a 7x, +8 TD w/T3 large shield and some 7x/T3 (3CER crit padded / 5 CER damage padded) studded leather, and is involved with COL.

But he's a goofy mutant because he has 11% redux (boosts to about 15% when all his enhancives are in use). Surprisingly he can take a pretty good beating without having to retreat.

I'm hoping that the retards in charge don't go about fucking around with 506. If they change it to only allow a 2 second swing time it will become that much more difficult to play this character because that is literally his only method of attack.
