Got this e-mail this morning and thought, what the hell...lets give it a try....can't do any harm.

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.

THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR BEHIND " DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY.

THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING ON THIS ADMIINSTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PR! ICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING,

BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE MAY 19TH A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

I think you should take a world geography course prior to telling other people what to take, love.

I think it's kind of sound.
A few years ago here there was a petrol strike over the amount of VAT the govt was adding to fuel.

The strike was mad...petrol stations were closed down because they werent getting deliveries and the government eventually gave in and cut the taxes or did something to make sure that petrol prices didnt go up any more.

Anyway, the down side is it didnt last long, prices are now up way more than they were when the strike happened and no-one is saying a thing about it :sniffle:

I wanna see another petrol strike.

Oy ...

http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/nogas.asp

Here's the bottom line:

"Gasoline is a fungible, global commodity, its price subject to the ordinary forces of supply and demand. No amount of consumer gimmickry and showmanship will lower its price in the long run; only a significant, continuous reduction in demand will accomplish that goal. Unfortunately, for many people achieving that goal would mean cutting down on their driving or opting for less desirable economy cars over less fuel-efficient models, solutions they find unappealing. "

Buy Shell!

And if you really want to do something about the price of gasoline, work with your state legislatures to do something about the environmental regulations that make it so freaking expensive to refine crude.

The US imports as much oil as it does because the vast majority of the refining complex can only handle light, sweet crude. If it was profitable for refiners to build complexes that could handle the sour stuff, we wouldn't have the supply problems that drive up the prices.

But, as the Chinese ramp up their demand for oil, we're all going to be hosed in the long run anyway.

Buy Shell! Buy hybrids!

How does that constitute as an 'pwned?' He didn't even know where Dublin was located -- I hardly consider him a worthy contender for a doctorate in geography.

Well, Tabor, after seeing your picture and realizing how scrawny you were, maybe he thought you were an appropriate example of the territory and felt a bit humanistic and decided to civilize your country.

Buy Shell!

Why?

I knew where Dublin was. It's in the northern region of Ireland.

I didn't know that even though its in the same area as what's classified as Northern Ireland it wasn't a part of it.

But then again, I can admit when I'm wrong and I don't have to delete shit that proves me wrong. Then again, I don't lie and make up shit about people making fun of my deceased father. Then again, I don't lie and make up credentials about being in graduate school to add credibility to my weak arguments on the official boards.

Oh yeah, the oil thing would never work.

I think this thread can die. :die:

The boston tea party involved a less "developed market/economy"

Unless a soundly established non-profit organization dedicated to this idea existed, this will not work.

This idea is pretty impractical, but not impossible. with that said it will take more then mass emails
