View Full Version : Where do you get your gas?

Someone emailed me this. I plan to follow through.

WHERE TO BUY GAS, IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW. READ ON ~

Why didn't George W. think of this? Gas rationing in the 80's worked even though we grumbled about it.

It might even be good for us!

The Saudis are boycotting American goods.

Let's return the favor.

An interesting thought is to boycott their GAS.

Every time you fill up the car, you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia. Just buy from gas companies that don't import oil from the Saudis.

Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill-up the tank, I am sending money to people who are trying to kill me, my family, and my friends.

You may be interested to know which oil companies are the best to buy gas from and what major companies import Middle Eastern oil :

Shell............................ 205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco......... 144,332,000 barrels

Exxon /Mobil...............130,082,000 barrels

Marathon/Speedway... 117,740,000 barrels
Amoco............................62,231,000 barrels

If you do the math at $50/barrel, these imports amount to over $35 BILLION!

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:
Citgo.......................0 barrels

Sunoco...................0 barrels
Conoco...................0 barrels

Sinclair...................0 barrels
BP/Phillips..............0 barrels

Hess.......................0 barrels
ARC0......................0 barrels

All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they import.

The government of Saudi Arabia likes us. The bottom feeders of the country hate us. Not sure that this is hitting at the right place.

I go to Sunoco, rarely Hess or BP... Looks like those Saudis can kiss my ass.

It still says Sunoco doesn't get much/if any from Middle East, so they can still kiss my arse.

But yeah... if everyone bought from Sunoco, they'd run out, and be forced to purchase it from the Middle East anyway.

Doh! Well, hmm. The information has changed a bit since the first version of the email... still, Sunoco and Sinclair don’t import any Persian Gulf oil. Thats good enough for me.

Also, the end of the Snopes article states the best thing to do is not use as much gas. I imagine most folks probably aren’t due to prices being where they are, but still, a good policy for many reasons.

I go to Sunoco for my gas because it's down the street from my apartment building. I find it incredibly ironic that it's run by indians. :D

Here in Jersey which as I understand has about the lowest prices in the US, I go to what I think is a smaller chain called Delta.

Last fill up was at 1.99 or so.

I go where it's cheapest is all.

Along the lines of PB's post. The best chili place in the metro-DC area:

Sunoco, but I work from home, and I am within walking distances of most of what I need, so a tank of gas lasts quite a bit of time.

Citgo 'cause it's closest.

Shell right now, BP before. Shell gives evenly to Democrats/Republicans and is a block away from our new apartment...and BP is clean and was a block away from our old apartment being the reasonings.

I seriously can't believe anyone holds loyalties, aside from share-holders or employees, to a freakin' oil company.

I'll take my raping as gently as possible.

Buy Shell!

And thank you, Phoenix, for mandating that your stations have to sell the California blend, thus ensuring more demand for our refinery's output. Yay!

It's GOOD to be a Big Oil minion right now...not that I like the pump prices, because we don't get any discounts, but if this keeps up, my bonus next year will be sweet.

It doesn't matter what company you purchase gas from in Michigan, because every gas station is owned and operated by Akmhed Fuckbar and his 19 cousins.

I'm sure they send the money home where it's used for essentials like food, medicine, and Kalishnikovs.

Edited for grammar

I have found that to be true also. I don't know if it is a company policy or something, but whenever I drive to Chicago, I always try to stop at the rest stops in PA that are BP for that exact reason.

I get my gas at Pilot, I don't know who owns them though.

I usually get mine from Sunoco.. only because it's closest. Occasionally, I'll go Exxon (uhoh) because it's next to work.

I agree with the BP being clean thing. Must be a company thing.
