I know simu warns that if you close your account your player shop maybe lost. Does anyone have any experience with this? I like to take breaks every once in a while and would hate to have to sell my shop off, I’m thinking as long as I have the funds to pay for the monthly rent it should be fine.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Check the SHOP command. You’re supposed to check in once every 30 days or it starts to go into repo, I think.

Yeah - I think its the 30 day period and then there is a repo window (90 days I think?) where you can still get it back. And once repo'd if you are lucky and get a decent GM you can at least get the inventory back.

I'm not sure about when you close an account. You may need to reach out to feedback/support or email a GM directly if you can't find any useful info from the SHOP verb.

As for your shop, you certainly do need to be inside it and use SHOP INFO while inside the shop for it to register that you've visited. If you do not do this at least once in a 90 day window, your shop will be forfeit. Again, I do not know if you keep the shop for 90 days if you were to close your account.

As a shop owner I share the same sentiments. Other options would be to get a partner *you trust to login every 30 days* to extend you only having to check in every 90 days OR sell it and use the coins to hopefully buy one back when you return.

The number of open shops in the Landing has dropped from 173 to 169 so it seems like the eviction process is in place, the shops are slowly becoming even rarer because there's still no way to buy them. Great for people like me who already own a shop in fact full disclosure I have 3, bad for the community as there's less diversity and less competition.

If it were up to me every single player would have an opportunity to sell their things when they're not online, not just those that can afford the 60m I paid for my last one or what ever they're going for these days. When I look at the flat price sales section of this forum it's clear some of you really could benefit from having a shop. Very few of the decisions in this game bother me but this one really does, there are more than enough shops for everyone to have. I can see that from what some players are selling they aren't out to make millions but just to sell their nick nicks and they should be able to.

I had 3 shops, sold one off 4/5/6 months back. I just didn't use that third one much.

Is Rester (sp?) still an active GM? He was the one that worked on redoing the shop code. I haven't seen a post from him on the officials for a while. I know he wanted to get the actual shop system figured out so that permits could be purchased in game, when a shop location opened up - this was one of the main reasons they moved to only allowing 1 shop per pay account. Sadly, though, the shop system was always on the back burner for him since it was more of a pet project. I remember him talking about another shop raffle at one point, but that never happened....not even sure if he's still a GM.

Simu policy is often clear аs mud but what was mentioned on discord is that shops now stay active as long as a partner checks in every 90 days, I believe they also mentioned you just have to walk in now and don't even have to use the shop info command.

Thanks everyone for all the info. I’m going to try and speak to a GM to clarify all this.

I agree that everyone who wants a shop should have one, and as a single shop owner I'd be happy if tomorrow the GMs permitted unlimited shops and drove their secondary market value to zero. However I'm not sure how to balance this with shops being (ab)used as free locker space, which is one of the reasons for the limits when shops were developed if I recall correctly.
