Interesting that this thread has turned into a comparison of Arkans to Longshot. Such a comparison is an exercise in futility, in my opinion.

If one looks past Longshot's insults, there is insight in his posts. In this case, if a poster uses the same "hooks" again and again, the "hooks" take on a life of their own and the poster becomes secondary to the post. The end result is boredom. It gives the poster an identity, of sorts, but the punch is lost in repetition.

Longshot is subtle and innovative. Arkans is more out there and attention-seeking. It's a simple difference in style. Each brings his own cachet to the boards.

I didn't take Longshot's post as a whine. Then again, I haven't got a vested interest on either side of the issue.

The posting styles don't have to clash, unless their posters wish them to clash. Things can be different without clashing.

The fact is, on my end, they never did clash. When have my posts ever been directed towards longshot or even included longshot? Never. Then, too, one might be reading a thread in which one is interested, only to come across the random (usually off topic) post that echoes the above. Again, not easy to avoid.

Each to his/her own. None of it really bothers me, as long as it doesn't break TOS. I do agree with Longshot that the same thing, repeated again and again, becomes boring rather than entertaining. I'll leave it at that.

If it bothers him that much then he is free to find another board. This place is a place for for anyone to post what they want as long as it follows TOS.
