A dumb yet comical espn article written about the over saturation of Red Sox Nation. Enjoy :)

ESPN is like New York/Boston broadcast network.

Anytime they play it's the prime-time game.

I used to like Boston before everyone in the country did.

Now I root for them to lose, along with the Yankees.

Go Orioles/Devil Rays/Blue Jays

Way to jump on the "i'm too cool to like a winning team cause everyone else does" bandwagon.

Sorry buddy, when people who don't know what a double switch is are decked out in Boston Red Sox stuff saying OMG I LOVE THEM, it's time to get out.

I don't really care if I'm on a bandwagon with other people who actually know baseball.

And to clarify, I was rooting for them this last off-season.

The movie Fever Pitch is enough of a reason.
The book isn't anything like the movie.

Of course, all the Buckner hating, HBO specials, and whining are good reasons as well.

Buckner was game 6. The Sox still blew Game 7 to lose the Series.

Popularity is not a bad thing. Being a baseball elitist is kinda lame. Just saying..

It must stem back to when the Dallas Cowboys were 'Americas Team' and everyone in Philly hated them.

I just get turned off by 'America's Team,' especially when it gets as big as the Red Sox have. I have a hard time rooting for a team that everyone in the world does.

Alright then.. when the Sox are down and out, we'll welcome you back over.

This is kinda like my Bears thing. I've rooted for the Bears in every football game I've watched involving them. Always have, always will. Sooner or Later, the Bears are either A) Going to get shut down due to not making money anymore, or B) Win. If/when B happens..I'll still be cheering for them, and most likely beating the "changers" off the bears that seasons. I can't stand people who change teams just cause this or that team is winning.

Living in Chicago I've loved every Chicago team I can think of... most of which are pathetically bad... Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, Cubbies... hell if it has no impact on the Cubs season, I may even root for the Anti-cubs (also known as the White Sox). I will alway love every team here win or lose, but after 2003 having 10 billion cubs fans got old really fast... I enjoy my close knit drunken ass bleacher community and it should stay that way!

I can see where you guys are coming from, and yeah fair weather fans kinda suck but at the same time, It bugs me that FINALLY my team won and I get the impression I'm not supposed to be enjoying it, either because everyone else is all of a sudden a Sox fan or because people are "sick of hearing bout it". Well dammit, I am happy they won, and hey if other people wanna be happy that they won, power to them.

Hell dude, i would probably still be streaking in Chicago if the Cubs had won the world series... I'm all for rooting for your team, as LONG as you root for them in the good and the bad...

We're currently approaching 100 years of bad... isn't it my turn next?

You got every right to like it, hell if any of our four major sports teams in Philadelphia win I'll be going nuts.

Moreso for the Eagles or Phils.

PS. Anyone trying to complain, we haven't had a single World Championship in Football, Baseball, Hockey, or Basketball since 1983...... The year before I was born.

The Phillies have won 1 World Series in their 122 year history, and are the most losingest team in all of sports.

hahaha the red sox have fair weather fans. Whoopdeedoo. They're the people going to see fever pitch. They're the people who like Tek behind the plate because he "has a nice butt". Yes, these things happen. People somehow think that by latching onto a winning team, they'll become cooler or hip. This happens in all sports with all teams. I can't explain the amount of Yankees fans that have mocked me for being a red sox fan but weren't able to tell me who the Yankees faced in the playoffs or who their current 2nd baseman is. It's the same with the cubs, so who is Kerry Wood anyways? Come on, this is America ... people are known for changing their mind and going with the winning whatever. Get over it. There are some real fans that root for Boston. I'm sure there are some real fans that root for the Yankees, Angels, Phillies. The Red Sox had many people believing in the curse and had many heartbreaks over the years where they came way too close. That's why the White Sox aren't in the news for not having won since 1917. With squads that the Red Sox have been putting out, it's ridiculous it took us 86 years (I'll thank that espn article for supporting that claim).

I've been a Red Sox fan for as long as I can remember. The Red Sox won last year. I'm going to be a Red Sox fan this year. Count on it for the next however many years I'm alive, I'm going to be a Red Sox fan.

With that said, back up off deez nutz because the Sox are the best team in baseball.

In chicago it's like sacriledge to *not* root for a chicago team regardless of how shitty they are.

GO CUBS

This is indeed why all Anti-cubs fans (white sox fans) are traitors and should be shot as such.

04-13-2005, 03:14 PM
Heh. It's funny because I'm from the south side and I remember there being brawls between white-sox\cubs fans when I was a kid. The thing is I became a cubs fan because, yea they may lose but they'll make it a close game whereas the white sox will get monkey stomped 18-3 by the tigers after 4 innings.

Whitesox pride.

And to clarify, we don't like you because you suffer from the same problem as Boston. Millions of fans that probably can't even name 3 players on your team.

Real Cub fans = alright in our book.

Yah, my family lives most all on the south side also, and they are almost all Cubs fans too.

I root for them against anyone but NY, so make of that what you will.
