OK...I'm running an Ebay auction and I'm getting a ton of bids from this bidder who apparently has been a member for 5 years, but has 0 feedback.
This sound fishy to anyone else? They got an Ebay membership in 2000 and haven't found a single thing to buy or sell since then? Hell...I've been a member since 1999 but I have at least 20 feedback.
Anyway...since the last thing I sold I think also was a scam by the buyer I've got a lot more suspicious of this stuff.

I dunno... I had one for like three years with 1 feedback.
E-mail him, make sure he keeps good quick responses. That'd be my only advice.

Since ebay is not subject to a number of laws, you can discriminate based on feedback. That said, you can either hope he does not win, and if he does, you may opt to not honor his bid, or ask for a damn lot of proof that he's legit.

I've been an e-bay member for at least 5 years. I've probably bought 5 things and sold 1. It's not that unheard of.

I've had mine since 2002, and had only bought one thing until a week ago, when I went baby buying nuts. So.. now I have a massively large feedback of.... 4.

I've had my account(s) for a few years and have 0 feedback on one and the other is my active account. I have the second just incase I want something but don't feel like having it attached to my main account.

I've been on ebay for 4 years and I've got only like 4 feedback. I usually don't get many questions tho, because the cheapest of the items I've bought was 1700

Well that makes me feel better. I didn't really see the use of having more than one ebay account, but I can see the utility.
I can also understand folks not completely nutso on Ebay and only buying a few things...I guess it is looking at the folks with 25792 feedback all the time. I must have feedback envy or something.

He may have changed his user ID recently. I'm not sure if you keep your feedback when you change your ID or not.
If he does win it and doesn't pay, you can file a non-paying bidder complaint and ebay will refund your money for the listing and the bidder will get a warning. Then relist.

You could start by not being such a fucking pussy.
I've had an account since 1999 and have 0 feedback.

If he wins, require a cashier's check or postal money order.
Don't open yourself up to headache.

Yes, this. If you're requiring payment via paypal, same thing. Require he pay directly from his checking account. I've had ebay since 98 and didn't have feedback for years until I went on a video game buying spree and accumulated 30 feedback in a year and a half. It's not unheard of but protect yourself in either case.

Event Tickets.
Pair of Tickets to the 2000 Orange Bowl (OU vs FSU) was around 2500.
4 3rd row to a U2 Show ran close to 3000
Pair of Tickets to the 2004 Orange Bowl (OU vs USC) was 1700
5 9th row tickets to Game 7 of the ALCS last year ran almost 5000
12 bleacher seats to Game 2 ran around 2500
And one stupid shit left me negative feedback because I bought 3 sets of metal insert poker chips from him and he thought I didn't mind waiting 6 months to get them when he posted them as available for immediate delivery. When I left him negative feedback, he responded in kind and lost his sale.

Someone with 8 feedback just outbid the other person anyway, so it may change before the end of the auction.

That did matter when I got screwed last time. I sold something and offered shipping insurance which they refused so I sent it regular first class mail. They sent the money first and then claimed to have never received the item I sold, but since they didn't pay for the tracking, I had no proof that they had. It was my stupidity that caused it, and I won't make the mistake again, but I'm sure the guy got it, then claimed he didn't because I couldn't proove it.
Negative feedback is such blackmail too, like in Tamral's situation. If you get an asshole seller, you can't leave them neg feedback because they'll just do the same to you. And most of the time, they have 19285 feedback and you have 15. So a single neg on his record means nothing, but one on yours could mean that you couldn't bid on certain things because your neg percentage is high.

I so luv e-bay.
Bought my hubby a life magazine from 1945 with Audie murphy on the cover, Plus lots of other goodies for me.
If your worried about it, just pop for the insurance/tracking yourself. That's what I would do.
