Yes that's right! This is the official thread for the latest changes to ;tpick. Also for discussions related to ;tpick and stuff. And stuff and stuff.
So anywho. Just uploaded version 322 which has the following changes:
The setting "Calibrate on startup" under the "More Other" tab has been updated. If you're a rogue or a bard you can enter "never" in this setting to never use calipers or loresing to boxes to get the lock difficulty, instead you will default to using a vaalin lockpick, this means you no longer have to start the script with the "v" command line variable. Using the "c" command line variable will still default to starting with a copper lockpick.
New tab! Pool/worker
The settings under this tab are only when you're using the pool/worker. If you're doing any other sort of picking these settings won't be used.
The new settings:
Max critter level: The max critter level of boxes you want to pick, all other boxes will be turned in. For example if you set this to "50" then any boxes coming from critters above level 50 will be turned in, any boxes coming from critters level 50 or below will be worked on.
Minimum tip wanted: The minimum tip you want before working on a box. For example if you set this to "500" then any boxes with tips of 499 or fewer will be turned in, any boxes with tips of 500 or greater will be worked on.
Picks to use based on level: By default this setting only works for non-rogues/non-bards. For rogues/bards you either have to use the "v" command line variable or set the "Calibrate on startup" setting under the "More Other" tab to "never."
Here is an example of what to make this setting:
10 copper, 20 steel, 30 gold, 50 lage, 75 invar, 90 kelyn
This would use a copper lockpick for boxes coming from critters of levels 1-10, steel for 11-20, gold for 21-30, lage for 31 to 50, etc etc.
Vaalin is automatically used if the critter level is higher than the highest number you set or if the critter level is unknown for some reason.

Oh yeah, I did some testing with the new "Picks to use based on level" feature and it seemed to be working great, but let me know if you run into any issues with it, or if it's working great for you too.

Just did a quick run with it and it seems to be working good but i probably have a setting wrong with the 403 and trying to get it to cast 403 when i need it. Will try more this evening.

It should use 403 when needed unless you have the 403 setting set to “never”.

It does not use 403, evidently based on whatever settings i have. It will try the lock until it gets a decently high roll and then decides it cant do it with that pick. So once it started over and pulled out a silver pick, which promptly broke. Next time it gave up and tried 407 though looking back on it, that was a plate lock. It will cast 404, for some reason. I have it and 403 set to no. In Other, my max lock is set to 10000 to attempt all locks, trap roll is set to 1000 to disarm all traps. So, it looks like its all working ok, except for casting 403 when i roll decently hard with a vaalin pick. If i roll a 55-60 and no read, then i always cast 403. Not doing that with the script.

I'd like the option to trash jaws and needles. And to also leave scarabs on the ground.
I was going to rewrite it but it's yours so maybe you can consider.

This might be my biggest issue with it. I will try and pick a level 80's lock with no lore. Anything in the 90's, when the worker says here is a box from this critter (level 94), i will 403 right then before i pick it. That way i dont run the chance of breaking a pick with a 10 roll or something. I dont try it first, then cant get it, and then use 403. Its kind of backwards but what can you do. You almost need a setting that says....What level do you 403 before you pick, and then we insert what level we want.

Fixed a bug where if you found the true lock difficulty while picking and using any of the following modes; "always use vaalin", "start with copper", or "picks to use based on level", the script didn't switch to the best lockpick given this new data. This should work for all these modes now.

Uploaded a new version that should cast 403 if you're using a vaalin lockpick and roll higher than your "vaalin lock roll" amount. If you're already using a vaalin lockpick + 403 and roll higher than your "vaalin lock roll" amount and still can't pick the lock then the script will determine that you can't pick the lock.
I'd like the option to trash jaws and needles. And to also leave scarabs on the ground.
Why would you want to leave scarabs on the ground?
You almost need a setting that says....What level do you 403 before you pick, and then we insert what level we want.
I can look into it.

I just ran the script through a dozen or so boxes and worked like a champ. If i get a trap, it tries it once and calcs my numbers and if it sees i need 404, it casts it and disarms and moves along nicely. Picking now works with different picks real nicely as well.
The only thing i can not get it to do is cast 403. I had a level 102 box that had rolls in the 50's and 60's with no reads. It should have casted 403 then but did not. Under Spells, 403 is set to no. 404 is set to no.
I have my lock roll set to 55 so if it rolls a 55 with a copper and no open, it moves up to a steel and so on. There is no where to go after a vaalin so if i rolled a 55 and nothing, then the script should cast 403 for me, i would think. Maybe it does already and i just have a setting wrong, dunno. Ohter than that its rolling nicely.

Ignore my last post, it worked! I may have had my vaalin roll too high. Dropped it to 55 and i just did a level 103 box with a 89 roll and no read. It cast 403 right after that and worked like a champ. Woo!
Many thanks!

As a bard lockpicker, about 25% of the time the loresong does not yield any information about the lock size and the script hangs. I havent figured out why, but if more information would be helpful I could post here next time it comes up
I manually type in a new loresing "box in my hand; what is your lock I demand" to get the lock size to show up, and the script moves on.
I think this started happening a couple years ago when there were some loresong changes.

Wondering...and if its a setting let me know please. When doing a trap on a box and i miss the first time, tpick then casts 404 and i try the trap again. Best i can tell it does not let me try it several times before it casts 404. Miss the first time and it casts.
When im picking, it looks like casting 403 is somewhat random. I have my lock roll set to 50. Thats when, per the setup, when it moves to a higher pick but you cant move to higher than vaalin so i thought if it rolled over a 50 and it did not open, then tpick should cast 403 for me but as per tonight, it does not seem to do that. Kind of radom.
What am i supposed to set to make tpick cast 403 for me when i need it?

By "miss" the trap, do you mean you didn't see it and the script casts 404 and checks for traps again? Or do you mean you tried to disarm a trap but failed then the script casts 404?

When you're using a vaalin lockpick the script will then use your vaalin lock roll, it's basically the same as the regular lock roll setting but for when you're currently using a vaalin lockpick. If you have the latest version (I updated it with this feature a couple of nights ago) then when you roll higher than your vaalin lock roll setting and don't pick the lock then the script will use 403, if the script is using both a vaalin lock pick and 403 and you roll higher than your vaalin lock roll setting then the script will assume you can't pick the lock.
Also one more thing the script looks for: the first time you get the true lock difficulty (when you get the message like As you do, you get a sense that the .* has .* (-1000 thief-lingo difficulty ranking) the script reassess the best lockpick you should be using and starts from there, but if it sees this message again it will ignore it and still go by your lock roll and vaalin lock roll settings. This might be what you're seeing as well.

On the trap, lets say its a -250 and i roll like a 2 and miss it. Then it will 404 me. My disarm skill is 373 and the highest i can get with lore is 478 so if i get a 425 trap, tpick will 404 me automatically before i even try to disarm. Thats very nice.
If i get a level 100 box, i use vaalin automatically. I roll a 3 and nothing. Roll a 16 and nothing. Roll a 32 and nothing. Back to a 4 and nothing. Then i roll a 62 and i get no read. So then it should 403 me but it did not. So i killed the script and picked it on my own. It ended up being a lock near the top of my skill and i needed a 92 with lore to get it. Not sure tpick would have let me.
The next occasion i rolled a 95 and got no read. Then it 403'ed me and i got the lock.
Just seemed random.
So i set 403 in setup to 850 and as i read it, it sounded like if i get a lock thats at least -805, it will 403 automatically?
Also, when i get a platted lock, is there a way to not have it cast 403 and then 407? Can it just do 407 on its own? Does 403 actually help 407?

Yeah I think I erred on the side of caution with traps and made it cast 404 after not disarming it on the first try.

If you get a lock that's at least 850 it would cast 403 yes.

According to the Wiki 403 helps with 407, although reading it again it looks like just the very first cast of 407 after casting 403, which is weird.

If you lore up before 407 or 408, the lore immediately wears off after a single cast of 407 or 408, and you have to re-apply it for each attempt.

Oh yeah that's right, it has always worked like that. The way it's phrased on the Wiki makes it sound like you keep 403 but you don't get the benefit, which is why I was confused.
I do have the latest version i believe and my vaalin roll is at 50
Next time you're using a vaalin lockpick and you roll over a 50 and the script doesn't cast 403 can you copy and paste a log? Preferably from when you first started working on the box to when the box was opened or at least until you rolled over a 50. That would help a lot.

I'm still consistently seeing it not use lore on plated boxes above my 404 threshold, and I'm also (every now and then, not consistently) seeing the issues of trying to pour the locksmith pouch instead of a vial. Also, every now and then it gets hung up waiting on some RT but never makes another attempt until I do it manually.
Here's the log of getting stuck/timed out:
The attendant says, "Ah, here we are. The client is offering a tip of 500 silvers and mentioned it being from an Ithzir herald (level 92). The coffer is set up on the table for you. When you're finished, ASK me to CHECK your work."

Yeah, I know it's on the game's end but I wasn't sure if you'd had any more thoughts about it, or about the loose vial suggestion I had mentioned before, since using those loose vials (at least in my experience) has never triggered the pouring issues that disarming from the bundled vials does (plus there's the limit of 10 bundled vials per pouch/toolkit).

Ok was waiting on this one.....basically this lock was a-1175 which is close to my max. I rolled a few low ones and then rolled over my 55, so the next time it casted lore. It let me pick twice then decided based on my Vaalin lock roll setting, that i had better quit using picks. You know when you are doing a lock at or near your max, you need a 90-95+ roll and they dont come around that often. It does not look like the script will let me try 10-15 times to try and pick the lock - keeping me 403'ed the entire time...if i so desired to keep working on this lock. My highest lock i have ever done may have been -1160 and i wanted to do -1175 to set a new high but the script stopped and started trying to pop it. I certainly dont know the code on this but would be nice if it would recognize that i needed 403, which it did, and to keep me 403'ed as long as it took to get lock.

Another plus, and probably just to me, would be to have a switch....similar to where we put what level we want to use certain picks....would be...."what level to use 403 before picking" or so.... usually on a level 90 and higher, i cast 403 before i pick. It reduces the chance to break a pick on a low roll....in my mind anyway. Sure there are plenty of times when a level 100 ends up being a -540 lock that i could have gotten without 403 but it speeds things up.

I certainly dont know the code on this but would be nice if it would recognize that i needed 403, which it did, and to keep me 403'ed as long as it took to get lock.
Hmm.....I'm not sure. I included "lock roll" and "vaalin lock roll" mostly so people could decide how long they want to work on the same lock. If people don't want to spend too long on the same lock they could make the numbers lower, if they don't mind spending more time they can make it higher. I suppose what you could do is make the vaalin lock roll higher and have the script automatically cast 403 at a certain lock difficulty, like 1000 or something, that way you don't have to wait for a high roll first before casting 403 when you know you'll need 403.

So many changes in the latest update!
Version 329: New tab in settings menu "Yet More Other". The settings "Lock Roll" and "Vaalin Lock Roll" from "Other" tab have been moved to this new tab.
Version 329: New setting under the "Yet More Other" tab: "Keep trying if within abilities." Set this to "yes" to have script ignore above settings and keep trying current lockpick when messaging indicates you can pick the current lock with the current lockpick, script will still use the above settings and move to new lockpick if messaging indicates you can't pick the current lock with the current lockpick.
Version 329: New setting under "Pool/Worker" tab: "Use 403 based on critter level." For example enter 80 here to always use 403 on boxes which come from critters level 80+.
Version 329: New setting under "Pool/Worker" tab: "Use 404 based on critter level." For example enter 80 here to always use 404 on boxes which come from critters level 80+.
Version 329: Script will now look for loose vials of acid in your locksmith's container if it can't find any bundled ones in there.
Version 329: Script should now catch the messaging of you trying to pour your locksmith's container onto a plated box and if it sees this messaging it will look for a loose vial to use.
I tested a lot of these features but not all of them, especially the pouring of the locksmith's container because I have never encountered this bug. Let me know if any features are working or not working.
I'm especially interested to see how well "Keep trying if within abilities" works because I might even use that setting myself :O
Also feel free to donate to your local Dreaven.

2 bad rolls with my vaalin and then it decided to break out the copper which broke nicely. Not sure why it did that.
Random failure... because 100% of the time, when I manually do "loresing trunk in my hand; what is your lock i demand" it identifies the lock and moves forward
Both bugs should be fixed now.
Version 330: Fixed bug with ground picking and loresinging where script would sometimes hang when trying to loresing to box.
Version 330: Added new option under the "Other" tab: "Remove armor." Enter the name of your armor if you want the script to remove your armor before casting a spell, script will only do this before the first time you cast a spell, script will automatically wear armor again before exiting.
Version 330: Fixed bug with script seeing message "within your abilities" and setting the current lock to 0/nil which caused script to always use a copper lockpick.

Seriously, seriously good service.
I would say that i dont have a log of it because i had to stop it and a whole lot of stuff happened....if i do a level 100 box, it automatically 403's me like it should. I pick the lock and on to the next level 100 box. I have 403 running so it does not 403 me for this box. Then i get another level 105 box. 403 is still running and it does not cast. I get a level 95 box and i pick and miss. During the 20 sec RT, 403 expires. However i am already working on the box so it does not re-403 me for this box. When this happened, i had to exit tpick, manually cast 403 because i could not get the lock without 403 and pick it like normal.
Not sure the remedy but i would guess the easiest thing to do is 403 for every box set at the level i have in setup, regardless if 403 is running or not? Or do a check and see if i am working on a level 100 box and is 403 running (regardless of when it was last cast) and if not, cast it again before the next pick?

So hrm. If it's a fumble, currently, it stops the script...because I don't think it ever matches a line . . . it did this then just stopped
Taking a gentle turn, you choke up on your brushed silver lockpick for a better grip, then devote all your attention to the lock on a rotting modwir box...
You make a fumbling attempt (d100=1).

A log would be great because as far as I can tell the script should cast 403 again before you attempt to pick even if you already had it on when you got the box.
Even if you're stuck in 20 seconds of RT from picking the script should wait until you're out of RT then check to see if you need 403.

Yeah I redid a bunch of that code because I noticed when rolling a 1 you could bend the tip of your lockpick but the script wasn't auto repairing it, I thought you would always get some sort of messaging after rolling a 1 but apparently not. This will be fixed in the next version but I'll have to figure out how to get the script to auto repair bent lockpicks after rolling a 1 some other time.

If you use next and do 'em in the proper order, checking if the bent pick line and then roundtime are the next lines correctly it should be doable

Maybe something like
if line =~ /^You make .* attempt \(d100\=(\d+)\)\./
roll_amount = $1.to_i
next
elsif line =~ /Roundtime\: 20 sec\./ && roll_amount == 1
echo "You fumbled without bending the pick, retrying."
next_task = "pick3"
break
elsif etc
Maybe. Something like that...perhaps throw the bent pick and roll 1 check before it?

New version out!
Version 331: Remove armor option will no longer remove armor while at a table since tables are usually sancted and spell failures won't happen there.
Version 331: Script should now recognize boxes with "case" as a noun.
Version 331: Fixed bug with script hanging when rolling a 1 while picking a lock.
Version 331: Fixed issue when using ;tpick buy to fill up your locksmith's container, apparently some shops sell the locksmith's container closed so script now OPENs them so they can be BUNDLED into your locksmith's container.
Version 331: New setting added under "Yet More Other" tab: "Lock Buffer." For example if you set this to 50 then the script will add 50 difficulty to readings made by calipers, so if the calipers say the lock is a -1000 lock the script will treat it as if it were a -1050 lock. This could be useful if your calipers keep giving you readings which are too low.
Version 331: Changed "Minimum tip wanted" setting under "Pool/Worker" tab. Now if for example you entered 1000, 40, 500 in this setting the script would start by asking for 1000+ silver jobs from the worker, when no more 1000+ silver jobs are available it would lower your minimum tip by 40 to 960 and start asking for 960+ silver jobs. It would keep doing this until it reached 500 silvers, at which point it would start over again at 1000+. Enter 0 to work on all boxes.
Also please note I have reuploaded all of my scripts so the author now reads as Dreaven instead of Tgo01.
Tgo01
03-30-2021, 03:41 AM
Oh yeah I forgot to mention for the new minimum silver feature, you can just enter one number and the script will just keep asking for boxes of that value. Like if you just entered 1000 then the script would keep asking for 1000 silver boxes.

Also vials are not getting stowed if you already have 10 vials bundled, until all loot is put away, it seems(at least for vials obtained from springs traps). (adding an else / tpick_put_stuff_away after the last end in the tpick_bundle_vials proc I think?)
Should be fixed in next version.

Just uploaded a new version with many new settings and other stuffs!
Version 332: Fixed bug where script would get stuck in a loop if all of your vaalin lockpicks are broken. Script will now warn you that all of your vaalin lockpicks are broken then exit because you really should have at least 1 working vaalin lockpick when running this script.
Version 332: Two new options under the "Containers" tab: "Containers to open at start" and "Containers to close before exit." Enter full names of each container you want opened when script starts and closed before script exits. Don't use the leading "a" or "an", and separate each container with a ",". For example: heavy blue backpack, deep red wool cloak, leather sheath
Version 332: Removed "Gem Container" setting from "Containers" tab.
Version 332: New feature: Script now tracks how many times you have successfully picked a lock with each type of lockpick since the last time you broke a lockpick of that type. Script also tracks the total number of locks you have picked since the last time you broke any lockpick. Could be useful information to decide how to set your various ;tpick settings.
Version 332: Fixed bug with scale trap weapon not being put back into its proper container.
Version 332: Fixed bug with script crashing when using "other" mode. Does anyone use this mode anymore?
Version 332: Fixed various bugs when picking plinites at the worker/pool.
Version 332: New option for "Calibrate Count" setting under the "More Other" tab. For example you can now enter "auto 50" and the script will wait until it notices your calipers reading is 50 or more off from the actual lock reading before calibrating your calipers.
Version 332: New setting "Run silently" under the "Yet more other" tab: Enter "yes" here to not show most of the more spammy feedback, only more important feedback will be shown. IMPORTANT: If you run into any bugs or issues it is best to see all feedback and provide a log of said bug/issue to Dreaven so he can more easily find and fix the problem.
Version 332: New setting "Other containers" under the "Containers" tab: List all other item names/item types and the containers you want them to go into. Separate the names/types and containers by ":" and separate each of these by a comma.
Example: gem: sack, diamond: soft brown cloak, silver wand: ebony pack
Note you can use either the full name of a container or just the noun, but if you are wearing more than one of a particular container (like two sacks) be sure to use full names.
Names will be matched before types. Example if you have: "gem: pack, diamond: cloak" then all diamonds will be put into your cloak and all other gems will be put into your pack.
Any Lich item types will work, here are the more common ones: herb, gem, armor, weapon, reagent, jewelry, uncommon, scroll, clothing, collectible, cursed, wand
This feature should work both when you're picking/looting your own boxes and when you're picking up boxes from the pool, but I haven't tested the latter.
Of course that last option is 100% optional, if you leave it blank the script will simply STOW everything other than your lockpicks and wedges and etc. Script will also STOW everything not listed.

Interesting data so far from the new broken lockpick tracker thingie in ;tpick:
[tpick: Number of locks successfully opened since last broken lockpick: veniom: 37, kelyn: 3, laje: 3, copper: 9, gold: 1, rolaren: 7, ora: 2, mithril: 3, silver: 1, golvern: 4, alum: 3, invar: 2, vaalin: 1. Number of total locks picked since any lockpick broke: 76]
My rogue uses veniom a heck of a lot more than other lockpick types. Which I guess makes sense considering veniom is almost right in the middle of lockpick qualities.

What I have the script doing when you're using a loose vial is to POUR the vial on the box, are you supposed to instead still DISARM the box like usual?

New version of ;tpick uploaded:
Version 333: Script now tracks how long you have been picking pool boxes, how many boxes you have picked, how many scarabs you have found, and how many silver tips you have earned (both for current session and in total) and displays this information (along with silvers earned per hour) when closing the script.
Version 333: Fixed bug with script trying to POUR a vial onto a plated box, script should now properly DISARM box while holding a vial.
Version 333: Added new setting: "Rest when fried" under the "Pool/Worker" tab. Example enter "112" to have script move you to room 112 when fried, enter "112:go table" to have script move you to room 112 then GO TABLE. Script will then wait until your mind clears to what you set in the "Pick at Percent" setting under the "Experience" tab, then move you back to the pool picking room and continue picking boxes. Note this doesn't go by when your mind is fried, rather it rests when you receive messaging from the pool worker that he won't assign you more boxes until your mind clears out.
I think I'm all out of ideas at the moment of what else I can put into this script. It's a pretty awesome script I must admit.

Is it possible to have tpick to cancel a box if you are casting 407, because of a plated lock, and you run out of mana, to just cancel the box and move on? Was doing one just now and i ran through all my mana, which isnt much to begin with, and then it just waited till i got more, used that real fast and waited again. Be a nice option to "cancel box when mana runs out" type switch.
Am up to 501 locks picked since last pick broken. Thats a cool feature.

How difficult would it be to force it to always use the DETECT verb instead of disarm on the first time it looks for a trap on a box? Or to use it for all attempts where it is "looking for a trap," if you happen to have it set to check for traps more than once, say? I have had several situations I killed the script after picking a buncha boxes at a table, forgot that there was a really large trap that it skipped, then started again and nearly set off said trap because the game still remembered I found it... and once that I actually killed myself doing so...
edit: switching to disarm only when done with # of attempts to look for a trap, or upon finding a trap, that is to say.

This happend a few times last night and i just let it go but it did again tonight. Level 96 lock and i have tpick set to anything over level 90 to always use 403 to save picks. 403 was cast and it tried once. Last night it did the same thing but kind of different. I tried on a similar level lock with 403 going, had 3 terrible rolls in a row....like teens and twenties and the program decided this wasnt going well and went over to 403/408.

Last night it did the same thing but kind of different. I tried on a similar level lock with 403 going, had 3 terrible rolls in a row....like teens and twenties and the program decided this wasnt going well and went over to 403/408.
What do i need to do to stop this?
Version 340: Fixed bug with script not running properly when using a lockpick with a noun other than lockpick.
Version 340: Added setting "Max Lock Roll" under "Other" tab: For example enter 30 and when you roll lower than 30 when picking locks the script will attempt to pick again no matter what messaging you received. Enter 0 or leave blank if you want script to always move to higher lockpicks when receiving a message that you aren't able to pick the current lock, these messages are when your lockpick gets stuck in the lock or you bend the tip. If you break your lockpick you will always move to a higher lockpick.

So I've had this happen several times now, and I'm puzzled why it's doing this... basically when I'm doing `;tpick ground loot` it will occasionally fail to put an item in my bags before it sends the `clean table` command, but then it'll put it away after the that... however with that happening on top of a moment where you hit your rest threshold it fails to put the item away at all...as seen here:

If you want it to just pop plated boxes 407 should be set to "plate." It won't try to pop mithril and enruned boxes though.

On a side note, if someone tips 1 silver at the pool, it makes tpick delay for 3 seconds currently because the regex is
result = dothistimeout "ask ##{worker.id} to check", 3, /If you want to give up\, ASK me to CHECK it again within 30 seconds\.\"|\"That\'s some quality work\. Here\'s your payment of (.*) silvers\.\"|You aren\'t working on a job\.|Too tough for ya\, eh\?/

So I just noticed... under the "Other" tab you have: "Max Lock Roll." And under the "Yet More Other" tab, you have "Lock Roll." Did you intend to have both of those still? Is there any difference in how those two settings behave? I only had a value in the "Yet More Other" version and it seemed to obey it correctly, but it gives messaging as if it's trying to obey both...but stays with my current lockpick at, say, a 35 roll(I have it set to 40) when I get no feeling or read. So not sure if you want both?

The names are similar but they do slightly different things.
If you have "Lock Roll" set to 50 for example it will move on to the next pick/wedges/407/etc if you roll higher than 50 and didn't pick the lock, it will also move on to the next pick if you receive the bad messaging (bent lockpick/lockpick gets stuck) no matter what you roll.
"Max Lock Roll" deals with just receiving the bent lockpick/lockpick gets stuck messaging. If it's set to 35 for example then if you roll lower than 35 and receive those messages it will continue with the same lockpick (assuming your "Lock Roll" setting is higher than 35), if you roll 35 or higher it will move on to the next lockpick if you receive those messages.
Script always moves to next lockpick if you break a lockpick.

New version:
Version 345: You must now specify a mode when starting script: ;tpick solo, ;tpick other, ;tpick ground, or ;tpick worker.
Version 345: New setting: "Default mode" under the "Yet More Other" tab. For example you can enter "solo" and the script will default to "solo" picking mode when you don't specify a mode, so you could just start script as ;tpick and it would default to solo mode, specifying another mode will override this setting.
Version 345: Renamed "More Lockpicks" tab to "Lockpicks 2". No settings were affected by this name change.
Version 345: Added a help menu that explains all modes, command line variables, and provides more information about the various settings found in the setup menu. Do ";tpick help" to access the help menu.
Version 345: Fixed comma bug with script displaying wrong silvers gained before script closed.
This update was mostly just about trying to provide more information about the various settings and features of the script since the script has grown so large over the years and I have been lazy with providing a help section for the various changes.

I would still be interested in the following optional setting:
- this lock is too hard for vaalin!
- trying to corrode the lock using 407!
- the lock is now corroded, trying your vaalin lockpick!
This is possible since all the mechanics behind the lock corrosion mechanic are explicity spelled out on the gswiki page for 407.
https://gswiki.play.net/Unlock_(407)
I've mentioned this before, but in the past probably didnt expain what I meant at all, but especially not in the tpick tone which I have done in this post :)

Okay so I think you changed something with how it looks for lockpicks and it broke finding any lockpicks I customized and then shifted the dye as the adjective:
Attached to a vaalin-laced keyring you see a vultite lockpick, a chrome lockpick, a veniom lockpick, a raspberry lockpick, a grape lockpick, a laje lockpick, a blue-swirled mithril lockpick, a crystal-inset red copper lockpick, a quartz-inlaid blued steel lockpick, a slate-colored lockpick, a golvern lockpick, a kelyn lockpick, a garnet-inset rose gold lockpick, an opalescent ora lockpick, a cerulean-hued wavy glaes lockpick, a dull brushed silver lockpick, a kelyn lockpick, a dull brushed silver lockpick, a well-crafted narrow golvern lockpick, a dull brushed silver lockpick, a quartz-inlaid blued steel lockpick, a cerulean-hued wavy glaes lockpick, a dull brushed silver lockpick, a blue-swirled mithril lockpick, an apricot lockpick, a crystal-inset red copper lockpick, a bone-handled dark invar lockpick, a kelyn-tipped myklian scale lockpick, an opal-edged grey rolaren lockpick, a golvern lockpick, an opalescent ora lockpick, a veniom lockpick and a laje lockpick.

[tpick: Couldn't find your alum lockpick]

[tpick: Couldn't find your vaalin lockpick]
So my alum is "slate-colored alum lockpick, apricot alum lockpick" in the lockpicks 2 field, and vaalin is "chrome vaalin lockpick" . . . but they show up as chrome lockpick, apricot lockpick, and slate-colored lockpick on the keyring...
It's probably also not finding my grape invar (but is finding the bone-handled dark invar lockpick), my raspberry rolaren(but is finding the opal-edged grey rolaren lockpick)...
Not sure how to fix that, since keyrings don't actually have contents...
edit: (actually I can force it by specifying probably JUST the way it shows up ON the keyring...but not sure how that'll affect other things)

edit: (actually I can force it by specifying probably JUST the way it shows up ON the keyring...but not sure how that'll affect other things)
That should fix it. Yeah keyrings are special because I'm assuming the lockpicks aren't actually IN the keyring but rather ON, so I had to have the script manually look on keyrings to find the lockpicks on there so if looking on keyrings cuts off some of the name for whatever reason then you'll need to put the names of the lockpicks as they appear on the keyring.
It shouldn't affect anything else in the script because the first thing the script does is find your lockpicks via the information you entered under the "Lockpicks" and "Lockpicks 2" tabs, then after that it just goes by their ID number. At least that's how it's supposed to work, I might have missed a line or two where the script still goes by the name of the lockpick instead of the ID number.

I noticed that I'm only using vaalin lockpicks for the highest difficulty boxes where lore + vaalin are required, and using lower tier lockpicks with lore where vaalin without lore would have sufficed. Is that intended, or is there a way to specify in the settings somewhere when to use vaalin minus lore?
Also kind of funky thing happening- it isn't recognizing lockpicks on the keyring when I run it in solo mode, but seems to work fine with worker
Awesome script, by the way! Makes it a lot less irritating when I change lockpicks than editing my SF one, haha

I thought the script only used lore when using a vaalin lock pick, I’ll have to check the code when I get home.
That’s weird about the key ring thing. With key rings you have to enter the name of the lock pick as they appear when you look on the key ring because apparently the game cuts off some of the name when on a key ring like that. Other than that I don’t know why the script would hand trouble with solo or pool picking, it should find lock picks the same way.

script is hanging for me on the following message:
You carefully begin to examine a mithril Rolph's strongbox for traps...
You notice a discolored oval ring around the outside of the strongbox which makes you suspicious. Your suspicions are confirmed when you look inside the keyhole and notice the spring-loaded jaws pressed flush against the strongbox walls, but the pins that hold the jaws together have been pushed out.
is this a disarmed box that someone put into the pool?

As you reach for the opalescent scarab, it seems to shift and avoid your grasp.
And then it just kept trying to get #90675338 over and over and over and over and...well...you get the picture I imagine. Any way you could put in a case so if you reach and it shifts it checks the room for other scarabs of the type you disarmed, and moves to the other one? (mine was still sitting on the floor so...) Suspect you'd need to do /As you reach for the #{current_scarab_type} scarab, it seems to shift and avoid/ ? Anyway, I had to kill it to get it to stop.

Looks like it should be working, the only possible problem I can see is if someone else dropped a scarab of the exact same type in the few seconds it takes to disarm the box before the script notes which scarab is probably yours.
In any event I uploaded a new version that should prevent this from happening again, but I can't really test this because I can't imagine this is an easily replicable bug :/

Even if it was unintentional that was magnificent. But yeah, I think you may be right...looking at it later I realized his dropped in that split moment. So if you added a thing to watch for that shift and avoid thing it should help fix it if it happens...super edge case though.

You know I hadn't thought of this before really...or at least not in a bit. How difficult would it be to modify the trap handling stuff (difficulty specifically) and the lore handling to make it always use lore to LOOK for traps on the detection phase, but then have it stop trap lore if you have 100% chance to get the trap without lore?
(pretty sure not too horribly difficult, but not 100% sure of this...or if it would require a separate setting or something)

The script was setting the critter level in such situations to level 1, now the script will set the critter level to be your character's level.

The past several level 60 locks i have tried, the script pulls out alum and they are breaking because again, level 60 locks are out of whack and should not be in the -1050 range.
I started tpick and this is what it said..

10 copper, 20 steel, 30 gold, 40 ora, 50 rolaren, 60 vaalin, 70 alum, 80 vaalin, 90 vaalin, 100 vaalin, 110 vaalin

The locks on level 60 boxes (60-69) can top out way above what i believe they should be topping out at. They should be in the 600 range, 700 range and occasionally in the low 800 range. They are semi-regularly topping out in the 1050 range but the issues is that i have set in tpick setup to use vaalin on level 60 boxes but as you see what the script says when it starts, its using alum for 61-70. I think the script is reading something wrong. The issue with level 60 locks topping out way to high has nothing to do with the script itself. Just that the script is using alum for 61-70, when i have vaalin set for 61-70.
Unless i have a setting wrong somewhere.

It's always been my belief that lock difficulty has less to do with creature level and more to do with the type of creature or the hunting area.
The citadel is a good example of this. When the citadel was added, lock difficulties were set higher than the average 50-60's hunting areas.
I understand that's not your current issue but it's something that should be kept in mind.
Without looking at the code, it sounds like there's a line of code missing or a typo in the level 70's subroutine. (wild shot from a 1000 ft view)

Okay if I'm understanding correctly you want to use vaalin for boxes level 61-70 and alum for boxes 71-80.
If so you would need to do 70 vaalin and 80 alum.
The number indicates all numbers before the previous number up to this number. For example if you have 10 copper, 50 steel, 90 ora, 100 vaalin
That means you want to use copper for boxes 0-10, steel for boxes 11-50, ora for boxes 51-90, and vaalin for boxes 91-100.

I dont have any issue with a certain critter or critters in the level 60 range that make absurdly hard locks compared to the other critters in the levels. Thats absolutely fine if thats the case. Its kind of like soul golem locks. I dont know how they are classified these days but way back when they were known as Level 5 locks and the only ones of their kind. No other critter had Level 5's and what made them special was that the hardness of the lock changed after every attempt. They were never trapped. A double trained picker had a rare chance to open those locks. They were built for a 3x trainer with lore to open them. Soul Golems are level 80 something best i can remember and i used to love the hell out of those locks. Simmer would bring back dozens of those for me to pick since they were such a challenge. They could be very easy or even impossible for me to open.
But back to the point, ok since there are critter(s) that make stupidly hard locks compared to others, this means i cant use my preferred pick (alum) for these critter level boxes. (60-69). I have to use vaalin because when i get one of these hard locks, i always roll a 3, it seems, and snap my pick. With vaalin i have a better chance not snapping. The issue is that i have set level 60 to vaalin in tpick setup and for some reason the script thinks i want to use alum and while i do use the script and i do sit here and watch as it works, it scrolls so damn fast most of the time that i do not see that its a level 60 box and then i would try and stop the script so i can use a vaalin pick. You might be right on the level 70 sub-routine. I have no idea. I cant even code in basic so i cant look at it and tell what might be wrong.

I always want 100% on traps *IF* I can get it...because traps = justice system if you fail at a table heh...

It cancels 404 if your disarm skill is higher than the trap difficulty and to my knowledge you won't fail to disarm a trap if your skill is higher than the trap.

You carefully begin to examine Demandred's strongbox for traps...
There appears to be a plate over the lock, sealing it and preventing any access to the tumblers.

Yeah looks like it wasn't working for plated boxes because that goes to a different procedure. Uploaded a new version that should make it work for plated boxes too.
It probably won't work for scales traps and will instead keep 404 on but I decided to leave it like that since scale traps are pretty dangerous and I tend to err on the side of caution when it comes to those traps.

Ah I see why, plates get their own proc.
And good idea on the scales...heh.

Oh so you have several other spots where you call the plate proc, probably wanna include the line in those spots too, or move it to inside the proc? Not sure which is the better idea...
Though I guess a couple of them are to restart when it fails or whatnot, so those might not matter?
Hrm nevermind, I think they're all nested inside it one way or the other. Nice.

Noticed it last night and today...when im doing tpick and i get overloaded with silver and scarabs, i wait until it tells me to wait 120 seconds for more boxes. Then ill run to Hearthstone and cash in silver and scarabs. Come back to the tower, sit down (i have all this in an F key) but tpick does not restart back. I have to manually stop it and then start it again. Doesnt matter how long i sit there, it will not restart. Seems to have a kink in it somewhere that maybe it recognizes something that i have left the room and does not see that i have come back and then restarts.
Is this possible?

I don't think so. The only reason I can see that it would wait is if you have it set to rest while you're fried and it's waiting for your mind to clear out. Other than that I don't see a reason why moving rooms would mess with anything, assuming of course you got back to the room before the 120 second wait is up.

I noticed something, its not really a bug, just kind of an annoyance. When picking at Four Winds, if you go to the docks to pick and the NPC gnome that sells stuff on the cart is there, tpick will not run because it keeps asking the cart gnome and not the gnome attendant.

The script (should) still use settings for 403 and 404 for when you want Focused stopped. For example if you have it so 403 is stopped before each box and whatnot the script should be stopping "Focused" in those instances. If not then the script will leave 403/Focused running.

Right, it does this. But... if you have it set to detect, and it does not find a trap, it doesn't stop lmaster focus. So then when it finds the lock, with it set to stop 403 every time, it has no reason right now to look to see if focused is on because before they were separate, but focus is running because you turned it BACK on to look for a trap... Hang on lemme get a log of a picking session and show you... it turns it off and on a lot now.

So in the log I posted above, I bolded all the lmaster focus starts/stops - you can see where because it didn't stop it after the trap (no trap so no reason to stop), it left it on when it picked the lock (despite it reporting that it did not recommend using lore(403) for the lock)
It ends up being a substantial decrease in exp per box whenever it's on, I was watching earlier this morning...
edit: bear in mind I have fixed this in mine, just wanted to put it out there that it's happening.

focus_ends = Effects::Buffs.to_h["Focused"] - Time.now

end
else

end
end
Then right after the section in pick3 proc:
pick3 = proc{
next_task = nil
roll_amount = nil
if (open_plinites) || current_box.name =~ /plinite/
echo "Attempting to extract plinite."
else
echo "Attempting to pick lock." if UserVars.tpick["run_silently"] !~ /yes/i

elsif gnomish_bracers && override_bracers != "override"
tpick_get_box(current_box) if solo_or_other == "ground"

You can see my focus_check there . . . I also pushed that check in wherever you were checking for it. Let's it work without spell-list.xml.
woops, final edit: although it does require being on the newer lich with the Effects container populating... O.o

Uploaded a new version that should fix all of this:
Version 363: New option for both "Lock Pick Enhancement (403)" and "Disarm Enhancement (404)". You can now enter "auto" for either of these options and the script will cast 403/404 when they are needed and stop the spells before picking/disarming if they aren't needed.
Version 363: You can combine these options by separating each command with a space or comma, for example you can do: auto 100 detect - and all three options will be enabled.
So if you have the following for 404:
auto 100 detect
It would automatically cast 404 if the script determines it's necessary, OR if the trap difficulty is greater than 100. Also it would use 404 before DETECTING boxes. Finally with the "auto" option it would automatically stop 404 before DISARMing if the script determines 404 isn't necessary to disarm the box (because the trap difficulty is lower than 100 and the script determines it isn't necessary.)
This way you can eliminate using the "cancel" option if you want (which cancels 403/404 before each box) since with "auto" it only stops the spells if the script determines they aren't necessary.
This should cut down on the number of times the script starts/stops 403/404/Focused if you don't just keep them up all the time like I do :p

First off still a great job on this script! I love using it!
I think I found a bug. When using the script on the locksmith pool frequently the script would stop right after requesting a job.
It looks like at some point commas were added to the tip value, so anytime the tip is more than 999 it would just wait.
I was able to fix it in my local copy by updating both of the offered_tip_amount regex as well as the to_i calls, in start_worker.
I used ([0-9\,]+) for the regex and $1.tap { |s| s.delete!(',') }.to_i for the conversion.
Thanks!

Hmm... I was pretty sure I did, the repo doesn't show any updates, but I also just returned after about a year break.
I just checked and it does look like I had a different version. I am not sure why it doesn't show any updates available. I manually downloaded it and am ok now.

Could be because a few months ago I removed all of my scripts off the repo and reuploaded them with the author name of "Dreaven" instead of "Tgo01" and I think when the author name changes Lich won't automatically update those scripts until you manually download them again. So you should be good to go now unless Lich is still saying something like "The author name for ;tpick has changed. Skipping." When you login.
And welcome back!

Okay, new thought/request. Any chance you could add an option to only calibrate if it sees the calibration read does not match the lock? With perfectly calibrated calipers for LM masters giving perfect reads, it could be time saving to only calibrate if it has JUST fallen slightly out of calibration.

That's already an option for "Calibrate count" setting under the "More Other" tab:
Example: Enter "auto 50" for script to calibrate your calipers as soon as it notices your calipers readings are 50+ off from an actual lock difficulty.

Okay so . . . I caught this happen fast, but it looks like they FINALLY added a line that tells you the lock difficulty when you actually use the flip trick... so you might be able to add it to the flow so you can cap it's lock value also (the regex it watches for doesn't happen on the flip trick so no capturing that way heh).
Wish we had just like... a log option instead of just quote and code...anyway, here's a brief version of the log of it happening.
Using your imflass-tipped calipers, you carefully begin to measure the lock...
Roundtime: 4 sec.
JR>
Measuring carefully, it looks to be a fairly plain lock (-360 in thief-lingo difficulty ranking).
<edited some fluff out>
[tpick]>lmaster ptrick twist #43006510
You give your vultite lockpick a sharp twist, attempting to straighten it slightly, before settling into the difficult task of picking the lock on a plain brass coffer...
You make a lame attempt (d100=29).
You are not able to pick the coffer, but you get a sense that it has a fairly plain lock. About a -370 difficulty lock (in thief-lingo).
Roundtime: 5 sec.
JR>

[tpick]>stop lmaster focus
[tpick]>lmaster ptrick flip #43006510
Pretending to only examine the lock of a plain brass coffer, you instead attempt to quietly turn the tumblers to within a hair's breadth of clicking...
You make a passable attempt (d100=48).
You get a sense that the coffer has a fairly plain lock (-370 thief-lingo difficulty ranking).
Then with an easy motion, you flip your lockpick into the air and give the coffer a solid smack!
The coffer gives off an audible *click* as the tumblers snap open.
Roundtime: 5 sec.
JR>
<<< edited out looting the box - it did not calibrate here, instead it calibrated on the next box >>>

You focus intently on your picking and disarm skill.

So just adding this bit to the pick3 proc works like a charm it seems. Set my trick to flip and it is giving the value back correctly.
while line = get
#Get roll amount:
# Demandred - added a couple grabs here to attempt to get actual lock to pass down...
if line =~ /^Pretending to only examine the lock/
flip_trick_used = true
next
elsif line =~ /^You get a sense that .+ has .+ lock \(\-(\d+) thief-lingo difficulty ranking\)\./ && flip_trick_used
actual_lock_difficulty = $1.to_i
next
elsif line =~ /^You make .* attempt \(d100(?:\(open\))?\=(\d+)\)\./ # Demandred - last bit of that stuff.
roll_amount = $1.to_i
next_task = "pick3" if roll_amount == 1
I also threw ``flip_trick_used = nil`` into the start_values_nilled proc.
And it works! Waited for a 5 off read to see if it calibrated.

So what exactly is the issue here?
Instead of giving this line:
You are not able to pick the coffer, but you get a sense that it has a fairly plain lock. About a -370 difficulty lock (in thief-lingo).
The flip trick gives this line:
You get a sense that the coffer has a fairly plain lock (-370 thief-lingo difficulty ranking).
?
lorddemandred
07-31-2021, 02:25 PM
Kind of - the full thing that happens is this:
[tpick]>lmaster ptrick flip #43006510
Pretending to only examine the lock of a plain brass coffer, you instead attempt to quietly turn the tumblers to within a hair's breadth of clicking...
You make a passable attempt (d100=48).
You get a sense that the coffer has a fairly plain lock (-370 thief-lingo difficulty ranking).
Then with an easy motion, you flip your lockpick into the air and give the coffer a solid smack!
The coffer gives off an audible *click* as the tumblers snap open.
Roundtime: 5 sec.
It USED to leave out that entire line:
You get a sense that the coffer has a fairly plain lock (-370 thief-lingo difficulty ranking).
So there was NO way to see what the actual lock was on success. But they revealed the success roll when the PSM3 stuff dropped I think as part of the lmaster and other changes, maybe?
But the regex that catches the success with other locks doesn't work on the flip trick, because the line is different... so I threw that together in a moment or two and it works.

If you haven’t already you need to update your spell-list.xml file and add the following lines:
<spell availability='self-cast' name='Focused' number='2001' type='utility'>
<duration span='refreshable' max='2'>2</duration>
<message type='start'>You focus intently on your picking and disarm skill.</message>
<message type='end'>You no longer appear focused.</message>

Then be sure to save the file then exit the game and log back in.

Did you you be sure you didn't enter the new code inside of another spell already in the list?

Something is wrong with the new version of tpick. It is no longer using calipers to assess box difficulty before picking. Now I'm breaking all my picks.
Also, my broken picks are not going to the container I designate. I want them in the sack but they get put in my jacket despite putting sack in the field for broken lockpicks.

I need to get logs but I'm lazy.
It looks like it is measuring but skips it if fried. Something is borked with 403/404 and vaalin lockpick settings when fried.
For now I decided to just always cast 403/404 especially b/c water lore keeps lockpicks from breaking.
Still can't figure out why my broken lockpicks go into my main container when I specifically specify a sack. Previous tpick versions never had an issue with this. Not the end of the world but thought I'd bring it up.

I'm not sure either, I would need to see a log of the script starting. I'm assuming the script isn't finding your broken lockpick container. Be sure to enter the long name of your container, if you do "tap my sack" and the game says something like "You tap a red sack" be sure to enter "red sack" as your broken lockpick container.

New version uploaded:
Version 366: Script now works with the new Effects feature found in Lich version 5.0.16 and above meaning it no longer requires an edit to your spell-list.xml file to make use of the new LMASTER FOCUS ability, assuming of course you are using Lich version 5.0.16 or above.
So if you have Lich version 5.0.16 or above you no longer need to worry about editing your spell-list.xml file. If you're still using an older version you can still use LMASTER FOCUS with ;tpick but you will need to edit your spell-list.xml file.

Version 368: To avoid confusion as to whether or not your version of Lich or spell-list.xml can make use of the new LMASTER FOCUS ability the script now checks if you are using LMASTER FOCUS and if you are but you don't have the latest version of Lich or haven't updated your spell-list.xml file the script now informs you of this and gives you options as to how to fix the problem.

Ok, finally spent some time with the script. It's not always measuring the lock with calipers, causing me to break locks:
[tpick]>ask #98898 for job
The attendant says, "Ah, here we are. The client is offering a tip of 1,326 silvers and mentioned it being from a triton magus (level 102). The trunk is set up on the workbench for you. When you're finished, ASK me to CHECK your work."

Ok, finally spent some time with the script. It's not always measuring the lock with calipers, causing me to break locks:
This should be fixed now.
Version 370: Fixed bug with "Start with Copper" setting and "Start with Vaalin" setting being set to yes when they were not supposed to be.

Does tpick support warrior bashing in the pool?
Darn good question. I can't remember if bashing boxes via ;tpick attempts to disarm the box first or if it just goes straight to bashing.

Okay so I checked the code and I'm pretty positive if you choose the bash option the script will attempt to disarm the box first then bash it open.
If so try doing ;tpick worker bash
That should attempt to disarm the box then bash it open. If it doesn't work then post a log here and I can try to get it working.

Yay! More updates to ;tpick!
Dropping off and picking up boxes from the pool was apparently very broken, but now it should be very much not broken.
Not trying to compete with ;poolparty by having this functionality in the script, I know ;poolparty is very popular. I just like to use my own scripts whenever possible so I threw in dropping off/picking up boxes options into ;tpick and now it's available to everyone.

Yup yup. It's been in ;tpick since shortly after the pool was released, I just didn't advertise it much.
To drop off boxes you can do for example:
;tpick drop 100
And that would tip 100 silvers for each box and the script will find all boxes in open containers and in your disk to drop off.
Or you can do:
;tpick drop 10 percent
;tpick drop 10%
To tip 10% per box.
To pick up boxes you can do either:
;tpick return
Or:
;tpick pickup
If you use this be sure to download ;tpick again because I fixed a lot of bugs pertaining to this functionality.

Tgo1, I am not sure what i am doing wrong, but I can't get the script to apply lock pick enhancement when I put yes in the box under the spells tab. I also can't get it to apply any spells at all when I have LMAS focus as a yes. Presence and disarm are applied when yes (except if lmfocus is yes), but not lock pick enhancement. Other than that I love the script. As a result, I do have to stop it when it gets to a high lock for me to ensure that lock smith enhancement spell is on so I don't lose a pick.
Thanks for the great work.

What spells are you trying to use?
If you’re using it at the locksmith pool you can have the script automatically turn in high level boxes.
