View Full Version : When is it acceptable to clear another person's warcamp?

Alright so check it. I know it's proper etiquette not to get up in another person's warcamp grill, but is there an acceptable time period before it's okay to finish off the warcamp?
Like let's say not a single critter has been killed inside a particular warcamp in 24 hours? 48 hours? 72 hours? Is there a point where it's accepted that someone probably isn't gonna finish that warcamp?

I’m not sure what the rule is here, 24 hours seems like more than enough time. I also look at how many are left inside, if it’s a low number I’ll often just move on for good.

I don't know about other folks, but if it is one I am hunting, you are welcome to it so long as I'm not physically in it at the time.

True, but it seems like sometimes I see the same warcamp have the same number for a day or two and it's less than 100, then I'm not sure if the person actually came back and finished it off or someone else did because they got impatient waiting for the original person to finish it off.

All your warcamps are belong to me!

I agree with Menos. If I'm not in it or outside it, then it's not mine to claim as far as I look at it.
Likewise, I don't really warcamp much at all these days, but if I come across a camp and no one is inside or outside it and the alarm isn't up, it's fair game as far as I'm concerned.
If you really want your boxes or goodies from the camp, then finish your meal and raze it.
Uhh... I feel the whole idea of claiming camps is kind of ridiculous. If there's nobody in it when you show up and nobody has announced on lnet something like "hey, I'm about to clear camp near X for GOS, nobody raze it", then it's good to go.

Good to know claiming warcamps isn't much of a thing these days. Or is this like a bitterly contested thing like whether or not tapping a coin on the ground increases spawn rates?

Unless you run into a major idiot, you won't really have an issue. Most people who go camping clear camps in one sitting anyway.

Scarabs do NOT belong to the person picking your boxes. Go. :punch::p

The pool pretty much settled that one.

A low number doesn't necessarily mean someone's working on it. I see new camps spawn with shitty numbers all the time.

Do the numbers in warcamps grow over time? I'm seeing warcamps in the same rooms increase in number but only by a few so I'm assuming these aren't new warcamps in the same room.

They do regen over time,
And I think camps spawn at 100 grim initially, or maybe it was 50.

Can't they also spawn at 500 initially? Or are people not doing those camps so they just keep growing to 500?

If a camp is at 500, it grew from the base rate. I just forget what the base rate was, I think it was 100...Although now I think about it more, it my be 200

That's crazy, I had no idea they grew to 500. They seem to spawn 1 critter every hour from what I have seen so far.

When someone else is in it is a bad time. For myself, if it is empty but I go in and see crap laying all over, I'll leave it. I usually knew when other people were camping around the areas I camped at though.

Are you getting the "You sense a battle raging within!" message or whatever it says after not having been there recently yourself?
If no, then just enter and clean it up. There's literally no way to tell if/when someone working a warcamp is going to come back, or if a warcamp is even being worked on at all outside of that message.

It's been a while since I had to mess with camps, but I think the spawn rate for them growing back was like 1 every 15 minutes if left alone. It was a bitch to think about when i was needing to raze them and like fuck i have to go to work for 8 hours.

Yep, this is the game notification, and I believe its somewhat new. I don't think it was there for the first few years which is when I did camps. So it was probably put in specifically for this issue.
I don't think anyone can expect you to know otherwise.

It's been there for a good while. Not sure how long, but I wouldn't call it a new feature.

Believe it was within the last 4 years. New in GS terms.

Pretty sure that when you see that messaging, even if the person or persons that were in it before are gone, the critters that spawned while they were in there are still there, meaning if you are 40 and someone was in there was 80, there will be some 80 train grim in there, I speak from personal experience, but I have never had it happen when the camp was not raging.

You could also have some retard like Hood that'll come in and see 0 Grim and raze it while you're still collecting the treasure.
