Anyone wanna share your katana user's training secrets? All worthwhile help greatly appreciated. This character is starting from scratch so feel free to offer up any and all suggestions. I'm all eyes!

Use it twohanded, get lots of dodge and MOC. Katanas are *awful* onehanded, nowhere near worth the double skill costs. Be a warrior. 2x CM and get plenty of PF.

Be an ambushing THW rogue.

hmm so i'm either going warrior or ambushing rogue eh? Any other opinions, bits of advice? Words of wisdom?

1x 2h, 1x CM, 2x spells, 2x spell aim, be a wizard, never look back.

I'd reccomend an aiming based warrior, MOC 2x warrior, or ambushing rogue.

With a wizard, I'd use a bigger weapon.

I agree, you need a huge DF and a low RT

Thanks guys, Imma go with the two handed ambushing rogue I think. Once again, I appreciate the help. :)

That's overkill.

Like killing a rat with a bazooka.

Also, 2 handed 6/2 *2
dodge 2/1 *2

Just that, it's 18/7... :weird:

For a physical THW rogue you'll want to go
2x THW
2x dodge
2x armor to 80 ranks
2x stalking and hiding
1.5x CM
1.5x PF
1x perception
1x Ambush
1 rank of HP (if you're joining CoL)

The extra points you'll have you could toss into 1xing Survival/FA, getting a bunch of scroll ranks, or beefing up PF/CM.

Get 5 ranks of Surge of Strength, WSpec to katana, get your hands on a vaalorn/vultite one, get the CoL signs and you'll be a beast.

1 rank of surge is good too, as it's the best investement for the cm spent.

shadow mastery is a must too.

p.s. 2X cm is for winners.

For critter hunting, you don't really need shadow mastery. It's probably a good idea for PvP, but also not really necessary.

edit: Oh, once you hit guild age, it'd be a really good idea to go after stun mastery and sweep (in that order). I can't even count the times it made the difference between escaping and dieing.

what's wrong with overkill? Not like I'm gonna be hunting rats with a skinning knife...

Xcalibur

You don't need it? Because you don't hide?

If smastery make you save 2 second every time you kill a monster, that's a LOT of time every month....

How goes aiming with a 2 handed?

I use stealth mastery simply because it speeds up the loboriousness of a 6 second greatsword ambush. 1 less second each kill.

Still easily doable.

I use smas for hunting all the time, so I can sneak the entire hunting ground only comming out for the ambush and loot.

Sure, and sux at everything else.

Just like 2Xing cm for a bard is doable.

I ask the question again: How goes aiming with a 2 handed?

StrayRogue

I miss 5% of the time with my two-handers. As much as someone with a dagger. As a two-hander rogue you're a combat rogue. You excell in combat. Everything else is moot.

Not being seen is probably gonna be real important. What's the overall opinion of smast for my katana user?

Go for it.

AnticorRifling

Get it.

Right now I have:

5 combat focus
5 shadow mastery
5 silent strike
5 wspec1
4 cutthroat

Combat focus is for TD which I need if I'm ever caught in the open in OTF. Using that + 101,107 allows me to at least survive a cast.

Shadow Mastery I live by, I always sneak around the hunting ground and it's great for that fast hide.

Silent strike is what I call the rogue's MOC. It allows me to take on swarms. It's expensive as hell stamina wise but if I see 2 critters in a room and I've got the stamina I will silent the second, kill the first, and come back to the, usually, stunned second.

Wspec1 for the obvious AS boost

Cutthroat for shits and giggles.
