You cannot use a hunting example from Wyneb to say you rock more. That has to be the easiest hunting ground um....ever. It's such that I can swing them to death, bolt them, and ward them with 415 and let's face it nothing, to include rats and kobolds, is wardable by the minor elemental circle.

I hunt there because it's retarded easy exp but I wouldn't use it to say PWND by my 1337 hunting skillz.

Funny.
My sorcs MnE circle could easily ward riflt (plane 1) at 66.

I used to worry about not having a high enough CS to ward anything at one point, and thought I should have been an empath.
If I was to have a shit CS I could at least heal myself.
Then I was shown, compared to an empath of the same trains, I'd have quite a bit more CS.
Thus making me feel Empaths were shit and I was happy.

(sorry for the terrible grammar, I don't think I could have typed 'CS' more)

The 46 empath I just sold had a good CS I think..., and was just starting to double the empath circle (so 4 cs per train instead of the standard 3). I am not aware of a reason why a like level sorcerer's cs would be any better, short of begining to double the sorcerer circle earlier.

Imagine if empaths were much better hunters than sorcerers.
Since they are almost sorcerers in the first place, therewould be NO reason to roll a sorc.

I noticed you both trained spirit mana control a lot more than I, and I'm wondering what the benefit is beyond say 25 ranks? Can anyone tell me if there is benefit in this above sending and receiving?

Also in arcane symbols... I am still stuck in gs3 mindset where I don't understand what the various benefits are of these skills. I am hoping to get settled on a definite path before the coming fixskills.

Any info would be appreciated. Feel free to IM or U@U me if you have any pearls you'd like to toss my way.

What I was saying Drayal is most creatures have a much higher elemental TD as compared to their TD against the other circles. They say it's because of 425 which is all well and good but it doesn't raise it that much.

04-11-2005, 09:56 AM

AS doesn't really matter. It depends what you're talking, be it PvP or pure hunting. For PvP, I'd say Rogue or Sorc. For hunting it would be bard: Highest AS, 1 second rt, and an eventual CS that will rival a wizards.

I currently use Empathic Assault, bone shatter and fire spirit. I don't use any disabling spells unless I'm group hunting and then it's for the benifit of whoever I'm hunting with. I have also on occasion used 125 to kill something for fun :) I also use only my own spells for DS unless someone just starts casting on me, which Wizip does on occasion. I never ask for them.

I also have a 20 training empath that hunts with a OHE as well as being well trained in all her spells and lores. She uses Bone shatter (still a bit too young to use the others and be efficent mana wise) as a supliment to the OHE. She also dissarms and picks locks.

Empaths are far from limited in what we can do. If you ask me, they're the most well rounded profession in the game. I can stay in fire mages for hours and not have to leave unless I get loaded down with boxes and can't fit anything else in my containers. You could as well, but that would require tons of herbs that add weight and take up space. Not to mention the encumbrence (spelling?) will get your ass boiled quick.

*Edited to add - I *can* use scrolls and spells (I'm just over 1x in both skills), but I usually choose not to and just leave them where I find them.

Um... I was illustrating a point. Fire mages hit you when they die, EVERY time one dies, Ithzir do not. There is no warding, no chance at getting away from it. There's no comparison between the two.

The only time hunting mages is bearable is when an empath is around.
Otherwise it's pretty much kill, eat herbs, repeat.

I think clerics are more well rounded than empaths (lower physical costs) and bards are probably the most well rounded profession in the game.

Empaths DO NOT suck.

My level 25 Empath regularly uphunts 10 levels. She can also do the swamp in river's rest, though she normally does the carrack. 111 is an amazing spell. It's my favorite hunter, and her lores are trained accordingly.

When she hunts like level, I use 1106 (jungle), but that gets boring. Additionally, there's nothing like being able to heal every member of your group that gets hurt, unstun, and also keep yourself alive and casting with injuries to vital bits. If you're CoL, even better.

I almost wish I'd had an empath from the start of this game as my empath and ranger are my two favorite characters to currently mess around with.
