My left ear frequently decides it's going to stop functioning and I can hear a high frequency for a few seconds. What's going on?!

I think it might have something to do with being sick, too.

I have a similar disorder with low-frequency sounds. It's impossible for me to fall asleep if there is any bass in audible range because I can feel it through the walls, pillows, anything.

Don't have the speaker so close to your ears so loud.

By the Grove, folks! Tinnitus can be caused by something as simple as a buildup of earwax, or a loose hair that's too close to the eardrum.

If you're sick right now, Bob, you might have an ear infection building because of fluid trapped in the ear. If it doesn't stop, see a doctor, just to be sure.

That high frequency is the sound of your ears self cleaning.

It could be tinnitus, if its sort of like ringing/buzzing/hissing type sound in the ears. It can be caused by tons of things though from an ear infection to a loud sound (like music) or explosion.

I know when I had a middle ear infection my ear felt like there was a lot of pressure inside it and there was an annoying ringing sound.

Best bet is to go to your doctor so that they can have a look inside your ear in case it is an infection so you can get anti-biotics. :)

I have that acouphène problem.

When there's no sound, that "sound" is so loud in my head that it gives me headaches.

I used to listen to a radio while trying to sleep so the sound would just lose itself by the sound of the radio.

Since I am living with my gf, she forced me to stop that bad habit.

Since, it's WAY less problematic.
