I've merged the two threads about Quiethorne to remove, at least, one bone of contention from the mix.

My memory of this character is pretty clear. He bullied younger characters, lied, and cheated. The bullying could have been played off as "roleplay". Wouldn't be the first time that's been done. The lying and cheating, however, fall on the player of the character, not on the character.

Like I said, people can grow up and become decent individuals. If Quiethorne's player has learned a few things over those three years, more power to him. He might add something to the lands.

It will remain to be seen whether or not that has occurred, should he re-enter Elanthia.

Brattt, while I understand where you're coming from, Quiethorne's player has said he's quit drinking since the time we remember. Perhaps, that (and time) has brought about some positive changes. It can't hurt to give the guy a chance. I'm sure you've made changes in the past three years, as have we all. :)

I also got along fine with him. Lots of folks change, especially when they give up habits (as he stated - drinking.) QT I would probably just start fresh with a new character, that way you don't have to deal with all the old baggage. If the guy who owns him now, is married IC, then you probably won't get him back anyway.

As TRL said, if it were my decision, I'd start over. I wouldn't want to deal with the negative baggage of the former character, nor with the new wife, and any other things that might have happened while the character belonged to others. It's just not the same character anymore. The previous player needs to come to terms with that, in my opinion.

First of all.. My character style in game was just that.. a style. QT was a bastard. He didn't like many people. He liked seeing would-be bullys go down. Even if they were of a younger age.

I, as a person outside that game took great pride in the fact that I trained him in a way that few others could get away with and do things that very few clerics could do successfully. Of course I paid through the nose in rare and expensive gear to enhance his abilities. That is beside the point. His actions in game were in character. An abraisive pontiff with a penchant for mischief.

Is that who *I* am in RL? Absolutely not.. And there are scores of people in game that knew me RL that knew that it was just a part of the role. I did lots of nice things for lots of people if I knew them. And if they took the time to know me.

As far as me being a liar or a cheat? Well...when I sold my character I did so with the knowledge that I would not be returning. BUT...that is not to say that I did so with any duplicity. As far as I knew...everything I advertised him as...was true. If something turned out to be inaccurate...then well... Not much I can say other than 'Sorry'. It was truly unintentional.

As it was...you got a steal when you purchased him even if he WAS missing something. If I had deliberately done someone dirty...I wouldnt have even considered posting here in search for him (my character). I could have made another 3 grand in items I still have on my account if I had really wanted to. But at that time...I just wanted out. And I knew I'd never leave if I kept QT. The pull to log in would just be too strong. So I sold my spell-bot wizard, my cleric and a bunch of odd and end gear. I spent that money on the birth of my daughter, Caitlyn...and quit gaming altogether for almost a year. Then I started playing DAoC..and have thus for the past 3 years.

Do I have an unending desire to return? Not really...though I would like to see some of my old friends again. And maybe get back into the roleplay that is so lacking on the DAoC servers.

Do I want to fight with all the whiners who didnt like the way I played QT in the past? Nope.. Not really. And having said that...its a true test to some of the people here that have such a hard time distinguishing between role play and who I am as a person that you would pass judgement on me as a person. /applause

That is complete and utter bullshit. The fact is you advertised that the character has 3x vhcp cuirboilli leathers and when the character was transferred they were *not* on the character. You claimed that maybe it had slipped into the system in the transfer because the GM's were known for doing that shit.

However, I talked to Ardwen who had those leathers and he said that you begged him to buy them before you left. When I sent you a copy of the aim log I had with Ardwen you dissapeared.

I really didn't care about the leathers. Those really weren't shit, it was the fact that you felt the need to be completely shady about it that totally gassed me. And yet, here you are again.

I thought I heard that Quiethorne's player (well, one of them, I suppose) got into a situation where he had multiple OG girlfriends, and quite a few were pregnant by him.

Someone I used to know (she left GS a few years ago) from gathers, told me about the story, and how she got the various women all into the same chat room, and that's when they all found out that he had been feeding them the same lies.

She then stated something like she thinks that Quiethorne's player (I'm not going to mention his name, that I think it is, here... nor the source player of this bizarre story) has a mental disorder where he does not understand that what he is doing is wrong. As apparently when the various women confronted him about it, he kept denying it all and trying to round-about rationalize things out.

But it goes to show just how bleep-ed up some people are.

I'm speculating that because Gemstone is a "small community" of sorts... it holds true to the "small town America" phenomen where dysfuctions (such as the above and other oddities) are much more apparent.

At his age there are a lot of places that are quicker and just as easy favor hunting locales. But I admittingly don't know the new QT so its very possible it could be any one of those scenario's.

My experience of the current (or recent) QT was that he often took younger characters hunting. That would be my guess as to what he was doing there.

It was spelled Quiethorne. Everybody always said it like Quiet Thorne. But the spelling suggested Quiet Horne. Then again, a quiet horn sort of defeats the purpose, horns are kind of exhuberant instruments.

No wonder I got bored playing, when pointless crap like that would occupy my brain. Heh.

Glad to hear you and Mal are still together (never knew her RL name, sorry) and congrats on the births of your children.

And as for the pooka/miner hunting, one of my favorite things to do with Ti was to hunt miners and nags over in that area. I made a fortune on horseshoes, tails and hooves, they dropped nice gems, and hardly anybody went there. (This was before they changed back the spell dropping thing.)
I could wander around there binding and kicking stuff until all her containers were full without ever seeing another soul. Then I'd go back to town and cash in. Always made at least 100k a hunt (I know small change compared to some areas but I enjoyed it and it added up. Plus I never had to hear about my horrid capped character ruining hunting grounds by having the nerve to cash hunt since nobody ever went there.)
