Official: Encumbrance Training

You can now train to reduce your encumbrance. The Physical Fitness skill now reduces encumbrance by 1 pound for every 10 skill bonus. For example, someone with 10 ranks (50 skill bonus) will see a 5 lbs reduction.

Additionally, a new Ascension Skill has been released at the Common tier:
Name: Porter [porter]
Type: Passive Buff
Other Requirements: None
Available to: All
Prerequisites: 10 ascension ranks combined between Strength and Physical Fitness.
Ascension Ability Points:
CEIL(Rank / 5)
Mechanics: Decreases encumbrance by 2 pounds per rank

The first 40 ranks of PF will net you 14 carry capacity. Every 10 ranks after that is 1 lbs.

capped at 1x / 2x / 3x = 20 / 30 / 40 lbs more.

Encumbrance has always been pretty stupid and the recent bitch fest of people with...questionable comprehension of the other changes shone a light on it at least. It's still just ridiculously in the favor bigger races but now if you're leveling a halfling/gnome maybe you won't be encumbered with only your gear.

For everyone else it's an extra box or two.

No.

I think their post was confusing. It should have been two posts. One post about the general benefit everyone gets from PF training. That benefit is 1lb encumbrance for each 10 skill. Another seperate post about the new ascension skill that gives -2lbs per ranks. Totally seperate, combined in one post because ZOMG THERE IS NOT TIME TO EXPLAIN THINGS!!!!

He was right, 50 ranks of porter at 2 lb each is 100 lb via ASC

40 lb for triple trained capped is 40 lb so max between two is 140).

But no one will train 50 ranks, maybe 5-10.

So my sorcerer @ 101 PF still has the same encumbrance as before this change, does that mean that 1x PF wasn't any added value?

Got it, I was thinking max 5 ranks like CM skills.

But I see what you mean, there are 50 ranks for each ascension skill. So at 2lbs per ranks that is 100lbs

From my understanding.. 100 ranks = 200 skill = 20lbs encumbrance reduction? I think?

They needed to do this to bring things into balance. Otherwise there was no good reason to play a small race. Mechanically you’d be better off playing giant.

Even though the small races get more out of this update proportionally, everyone benefits. Giants can now carry an even more insane amount of stuff if they train for it. Nobody had anything taken away of nerfed, everyone wins on some level. Good change.
