So now that the 05 season has officially started whose rooting for who? Looking forward to anything? Think there will be any suprises this season (besides alex sanchez being the 1st player busted for steroid/performance enhancing drugs)?

PS: I'm sorry we can't all be lucky enough to be yankee fans and watch the sox get beat like bitches on opening day.

I am a Yankees fan, so some of us can be that lucky. :)

I also have a half season ticket to the Nationals, so they're my NL team.

I just hope Bonds retires. I don't know how long steroids stay in your system, but he's a fucking joke and an asshole. He better stay the hell away from Aaron's record, because Hammerin' Hank was a class act all the way through.

Yeah fuck Bonds. It's too bad Roger Maris had to get passed by these steroid assholes.

I look forward to Papi rifling a ball back at Randy Johnson's face.

I'm of course pulling for the Astros... we've got the rocket back this year and hopefully Petit will be able to contribute now that the healing process on his arm is well advanced.

Red Sox of course.

I got mad when he left the sox, but he screwed over the yankees so now I'm happy with him. I'm rooting for the sox too, obviously. I got red sox tattooed on my leg and my car's covered in Red Sox stuff. Yeah, I'm a little obsessed.

I was going to watch baseball but then I remembered I had some paint drying on another wall and it was more fun to watch.

I think I'd be divorced if I wasn't going for the Sox anyhow. My son already has a full red sox uniform and he isnt even born yet....

I went to philly and sat in the rain watching them play the O's in that exhibition game. Beautiful ball park .. shitty plan. You better hope they step it up.

Opening day of baseball helps remind me that it's only 4 more months until Football Preseason... and that makes me happy.

I knew I liked you for a reason.

Seriously baseball is fun to watch at the stadium, mostly for the crowd aspect ( I love people watching). It's also fun to play, but watching it on TV just makes for an instant nap for me.

Dunn very well could hit 50, then strike out 215 times.

Skeeter

1 down 49 to go.

Launches a rocket off of Pedro in the bottom of the 1st.

he strikes out a lot. but still hits for decent average. if he converts some of those strikeouts to hits, he could easily bat 300 and hit 50

Exactly. If I have free tickets.. I'll go to a ballgame.. but the only way I'll watch it on TV is the playoffs and/or it's the only thing I can get on TV. Same with car racing.. except the whole playoff thing.

So I go to the gym, and they have this big screen TV. I'm standing there with my ex-roommate, moaning about how lousy little Matsui is. All of a sudden, POW. Homerun. I'm thinking alright!

Walk out of the gym, 3-1 Reds. :(

AS I WRITE THIS POST, BELTRAN HITS A 2 RUN JACK.

This is going to be a long season.

I actually tried yesterday. I was over at my brother-in-law's house and it was on. He was very interested in it so I sat down and watched it with him.

I was literally asleep in 10 minutes.

My dad is a huge racing fan... I'm ok watching NHRA on TV but NASCAR is another story. While he can keep up with it from the starting flag to the finish I usually tell him to wake me up for the last 10 laps...

Sorry, as it has said in Wrigley for as long as i've been alive, this is "The year of the Cub!" Astros are toast, as are the Cards.

And if you noticed, no one wanted Marris to pass the single season home run record either, it's not like they were all cheering for him.

Living in Toronto, the Blue Jays are my team. They haven't done much in years, since they won 2 Championships in a row in the early 90's.

So the opener Sox/Yanks was a little disheartening but hey.. it's a drop in a bucket in a pool in a resevoir of my hope and faith for the Sox.

Though the yanks DID beef up the pitching. How nice it would be to have some of the best players money can buy. :(

Boo hoo the sympathy pours out for someone whose team has the second highest payroll in the MLB.

Beat me to it. A ton of my friends are Sox fans and we have a long-standing rule. If they bring up payroll, I get to punch them in the arm. They know they have to right to say anything, so it works well.

If by right there too you mean 25-30 behind and still 100m over the bottom of league then I agree.

The Baseball is the next sport to have a lockout.

And they'll wake up too late, when an average player will win 5 million per year...

Hope the new Expos will sux.

Latrinsorm
04-04-2005, 06:20 PM
With ticket sales and ratings at an all-time high, a lockout seems unlikely. The Mets-Reds game today sold out in 8 minutes (something like 55k seats).

Hulkein

Phils win over the Nationals, Pat the Bat looks good, Lofton looks good... most of the team looked good.

Mets fall apart because they have a subpar bullpen, and their huge money ace can't pitch over 6 innings. Not a very good mix.

I watched the sad ass game last night. Seriously though, I think last year was the first in the longest time that the Sox won the Series and the last time, lolz. I was rootin' for the Sox though! But, I've been a Yankee's fan since I was a wee tot. So, I was happy and will be happy if either the Sox or Yankee's win this year.

I also plan on attending a Pirates game when I'm in Pittsburg next business trip.

I want to eventually make a stadium blitz and visit as many ballparks as possible in one year when my son gets old enough to go with me to ballgames.

I knew it was in 1918, silly. I mean, there was a jillion advertisements and signs stating that. But...sadly the way the game went yesterday, (please don't kill me Massachusettians), the hope I had for the Sox winning again this year is depleating. :(

BAH, you can't call yourself a true Sox fan if you're losing faith after ONE GAME!!!!!

Hasn't their past seasons given you any faith? Sure they might have only won the world series once outta eighty-six years.. but that doesn't mean they're not a great team, a team that has excellent seasons. To a Red Sox fan, even a season without a World Series win is a kick ass season if we at least toss the Yankees around a lil bit (no hard feelings Yankees fans, just the way it is). And to judge the WHOLE season by one game is simply silly because you know our boys can do absolutely horrible some nights and turn it around to sweep em next time they're in town. So c'mon Souzy!! Stick with our guys a lil longer than one game, they need us

Baseball is broken and since fans are still supporting it like they are.. it will never be fixed.

You can bitch and moan about how the Yankees have the highest payroll every single year and that they are in the playoffs every single year, but George is merely playing within the rules of the league.

It's broken and in need of fixing. Until the fans tell them that.. ala stop paying for tickets.. it will remain broken and the Yankees will remain the favorite every single year.

Latrinsorm
04-05-2005, 02:12 PM
It's obvious that money doesn't equate to winning. The Yankees do not win all or even a majority of the championships. The Mets spend a lot and are rarely good. The list goes on.

That's (partially) why baseball rocks.

Well...then I'd have to go with the team I've been rootin' for since I was 10 years old! Go Yankee's!!! Bwahahaha!!! I was just psyched that my home team won last year, actually amazed, you have to admit that was a very great game, Red Sox and Yankee's, very good indeed. Hopefully, Red Sox does stick to their winning streak, if not, then...oh well.

I'm going to the Celtic's game tomorrow, they suck too, but games are way better when you're actually there, so maybe I won't think they suck as much.

AL East: NY Yankees

AL Central: Minnesota Twins

AL West: Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

AL Wildcard: Boston Redsox

NL East: Florida Marlins

NL Central: St. Louis Cardinals

NL West: San Diego Padres

NL Wildcard: San Francisco Giants

I got Yankees vs. Marlins in the World Series, a rematch of a couple years ago with Yanks winning. Fuck the Yankees though.

Hulkein

I think that's also John Kruk's prediction for the World Series and the winner.

I don't see the Giants getting the wildcard, otherwise I pretty much agree with your predictions.

I harbor much less hatred for the Red Sox this year. Once Manny is no longer a part of the Boston ball club, their image will be clean.

The Bombers will make the playoffs naturally. Anything else would be sheer speculation.
