Many people asked a thread about that.

So lot of people tried to be nice and gather some money to buy chris in billing a card to thank her for her awesome work

They sent money to an middleman that would buy said card

BIG RUMORS are

1) Chris did not receive the whole lot of money collected (IF ANY was given)

2) Middleman built a HUGE computer at the same time and quit after

3) So far, 260$ was collected (from 5 different persons). Will be edited the more I get info on this point

hmmmmm

UPDATE: I just spoke to Middleman and he assured me that he was told by Murrandii that the exchange rate is favorable with Canada and that if Middleman would send the money to Murrandii, Murrandii would buy the giftcard at a discount and send it to Chris in Billing. Murrandii also told Middleman that he would make it an even $500.00 (Canadian) to make up for being such a little bitch in Gemstone IV over the years.

So, it sounds like Murrandii has some explaining to do. What we know at this moment is:

Murrandii has the $260.00 US currency.
Murrandii has NOT sent the $500.00 giftcard to Chris in Billing yet.
Murrandii is trying to cover his tracks for stealing said $260.00 US currency.

We demand answers from you Murrandii. WHERE IS THE MONEY!?!?!

Confirmed:

Royal Canadian Mounted Police are enroute.

It's Canada. They'll just ask politely for the money back, and if they don't get it, they will apologize for being bothersome, and go on their merry way.

For those as confused as I was reading this thread:

I had a number of people reach out about whether or not Chris in billing received a gift card that some players sent in. She did, in fact, receive it. She is very appreciative of the generosity.

Somebody should let Chris in accounting know about the news that Redux was solved down to five decimal places. Something that would give meaning to the decades of work she had done, you know?

At the time this was being done there was some person on Lnet, (can’t remember the name) that absolutely threw a shoe, and had a holy meltdown on me, because supposedly they had brought up the idea to send a gift to Chris previously, but never acted on it. ( they also declined to donate). (Could this have been you OP?)

Issue was there was TWO (deux) initiative. We highly suspect one cashed out, one sent the card.

Since we don't have all the money gathered, at that point, it's only speculation how much was "stolen".

Seriously, how fucked up is billing you all know Chris so well (and feel the need to supplement her income)?

Murrandii
10-15-2020, 10:16 AM
If wyrom wins 50K$ per year + bonus, do you really, really think she wins that much?

Chris enhances the customer experience. Chris isn't like some "senior" GM that got poor people skills that basically tells you fuck off on official (cough oscuro / estild cough cough cough)

I made lot of char transferts and Chris, for me, was help, not a pain.

As a simu perspective, that's rare lol

Sorcasaurus

I've never had a problem. It has always been wanting to moving characters or reactivating an account. I'd call if I forgot something needed for the online form. For me, it was after years of great customer service I thought a giftcard to say thanks would be nice. It appears I wasn't alone.

If this was rhetorical my apologies. Chris has been around for as long as I can remember and I have a feeling a bunch of these folks doing character swaps/sales etc have talked to her a bunch over the years. This is a small community so I get it. Also it is difficult for Chris to get on someone's bad side versus how folks can sour on GM's based on their decisions so you have years of contact with more than likely only positive responses.

I am not one to gift folks though

Taernath
10-15-2020, 10:49 AM
I think part of it is she's been one of the few constant, salaried employees that regularly have positive interactions with the community. GMs and PMs come and go, but Chris is eternal. Hasn't she been there since the days of mailing in checks for subscriptions?

Fierna

She’s been there since like 1996 or something ancient and always on-site to boot.

Also, it’s interesting to note how the “give gift” and “I don’t give gifts” delineate based on political views with the conservatives on this forum adamantly against giving gifts.

You claim you're in the young 20s. That would make you... unborn when she was in office.

Simu's billing is suuuuuuper ancient and fucked up. Other companies you can do most stuff self-service, not Simu though. Chris has to do like 90% of everything.

Simu won't even get anyone to properly update their Website or Forums - you think they're going to sink money into some other aspect of the company? It's probably less of a headache to keep Chris around and let the game live until she leaves or dies....once she's gone, no one else will know how to operate anything on the billing side of things and GSIV will cease to exist.

Their excuse for not updating their forums to something new is security and how accounts are linked to the forums.

Of course, they are opneing up many more security holes by not updating the forums, but whatever.

You can rent some to hang on the wall just for when the inspectors visit. Or buy non-functional fake ones to hang on the wall all year long. Both wonderful techniques are things I've seen companies actually use to get around regulations.

Well that's dumb. I don't believe you've seen someone buy fake fire extinguishers to pass a code inspection. Fire extinguishers are cheap. Good contractors not only buy them, but buy extras to have on hand for final inspection. I mean, if you're looking for a career change, sure, go ahead. You will get caught and absolutely get your ass handed to you... and then you'll get fired.

Yeah I was about to say... Fire Extinguishers are only expensive if you are using a lot of fire extinguishers.

The funny thing about that situation was that the factories were not responding to their own country's regulations, but regulations from their American corporate customers who was trying to impose some sort of fancy new corporate responsibility thing on them. And the people that helped said factories to creatively respond to these new regulations was the guys from the purchasing department from the same American corporations, who indeed, wanted to keep costs as low as possible.

Most fire extinguishers in businesses are rentals. In case they fail, there's one less thing to be liable with.

This is not correct. They are however usually tested yearly by an outside organization for the above referenced reason, and inspected yearly by the fire department in most jurisdictions.

This is why Simu's bills are so high that they can't afford even one full time coder.
