Probably a stupid question but presently the only way to get a playershop is from buying from someone that already has one correct? I am planning to be staying put for forever pants in IMT and was casually thinking about obtaining a shop but I feel like the only way was through players and if that is the case the price probably isn't worth the burden for me.

If a recent poster on the Officlals is to be believed there are still several hundred-odd player shops in different towns that have not been recycled through the system. Retser has been working on OSA, so who knows when he will get back to it.

Right now yes, you can only buy one from someone else. Remarkably, shops go abandoned all the time, so the number of available shops always decreases, driving up the price. Supposedly he might do another lottery round in the future to recycle abandoned shops, but it doesn't seem like that's going to happen any time soon. That said, shops tend to appreciate so even if you buy one for 60m now it might be 100m in a year.

If you use the command SHOP directory in game it will give you a list of all the active shops in each town, 2 thirds of all shops in the Nations are vacant which I'm guessing is down to the racial restrictions.

Well he did just upgrade the verb for SHOP SALES, so maybe he is working on them?

Whether it's worth buying a shop depends largely on what you intend on selling there and whether you have a realistic idea of what things are worth. I made back the 20mil I spent to get my shop in about 5-6 months selling perfects and stuff from my lockers... but I also didn't try to get more for them then they're worth.

I made back the 20mil I spent to get my shop in about 5-6 months selling perfects and stuff from my lockers... but I also didn't try to get more for them then they're worth.

Mostly was going to have a shop with various skins and herbs from IMT area for cheap for folks to pick up to help with bounties. Was something more for fun only, so definitely not something I want to invest in if I have to do it purely through a major purchase.
