I took this test and it told me 80. Can anyone tell me why it asked for education? BTW, all I have is high school diploma. Oh yeah, I also smoke.

71. It's a tad inaccurate because I'm too young for a job, college education, etc.

I've never had an exact number, but I have had a vision of myself as being very old as well.

They kinda give a breakdown of how they calculate it.. smoking takes off max 8 years (if 2 packs or more). My downfall was genetics. Damn grandparents.

EDIT to fix spelling

I have seen similar tests in the past and the reasoning behind the education question is as follows:

People interested in learning are usually more curious. They have a wider field of interests and knowledge. They are usually ambitious and have professional goals. All this means that when they retire, the thirst for knowledge and interest will keep them alive longer based on the assumption that they will have a desire to live longer that is stronger than those who did not develop this curiosity.

This theory was backed up with studies that showed a significant difference in lifespan based on education. As usual there are exceptions like those who have always wanted to go to college but couldn't for various reasons but the general rule holds true.

Hm, I'll live to 90, supposedly... Reminds me of a "Life Map" we had to make in freshman year of high school. We had to map out where we've been in life and where we wanted to go. I got roasted for two things:

1. I wanted to have a daughter. I neglected, in the middle of a Catholic school in front of nuns, to say "get married" first. In fact, that part completely slipped my mind, I didn't care. Oops.

2. I wanted to die in the Amazon strangled by an anaconda before I grew too old to make it to the bathroom by myself.

We'll see, won't we?

While your under there, can you clean too? too much shit i just push under my bed,do something useful for once, and clean!
What women should really be doing....cooking, cleaning, and pleasing the men!
and I will get shot for this
So i shall run...realllly reallly fast and really reallly far

Calculate Your Life Expectancy!
While there is no sure way to calculate your life expectancy, there are certain guidelines that can give you rough estimates. If you are between 25 and 65 years of age and reasonably healthy, this test will provide a more in-depth statistical view of your life expectancy than our Lifeline Calculator.

Start with the number 72

If you are male, subtract 3.
If you are female, add 4.
If you live in an urban area with the population over 2 million, subtract 2.
If a grandparent lived to age 85 or over, add 6.
If all four grandparents lived to age 80 or over, add 6.
If either parent died of a stroke or heart attack before 50, subtract 4.
If a family member under 50 has (or had) cancer, a heart condition, or diabetes, subtract 2.
As an individual, do you earn over $60,000 a year? subtract 2.
If you finished college, add 1.
If you have a graduate or professional degree, add 2 more.
If you are 65 or over and still working, add 3.
If you live with a spouse or friend, add 5.
If you live alone, subtract 1 for every 10 years alone since age 25.
If you work behind a desk, subtract 3.
If your work requires heavy physical labor, add 3.
If you exercise strenuously three to five times a week, add 3.
Do you sleep more than 10 hours each night? Subtract 4.
Are you intense? Aggressive? Easily angered? Subtract 3.
Are you easy-going and relaxed? Add 3.
Are you happy? Add 1. Unhappy? Subtract 2.
Have you had a speeding ticket in the last year? Subtract 1.
Do you smoke more than two packs a day? Subtract 8. One or two packs? Subtract 6. One - half to one pack? Subtract 3.
Do you drink the equivalent of two drinks of hard liquor a day? Subtract 1.
Are you overweight? By 50 lbs., Subtract 8. By 30-50 lbs, Subtract 4. By 10-30 lbs., Subtract 2.
Are you a man over 40 and have annual checkups? Add 2.
If you are a woman and see a gynecologist once a year, add 2.
If you are between 30 and 40, add 2.
If you are between 40 and 50, add 3.
If you are between 50 and 70, add 4.
If you are over 70, add 5.

Hah. I got 76... it's funny that this topic came up. Almost a year ago I claimed (for no real reason...) that I was going to die within the next year to my roommate. He called me a moron, we both laughed, but I've held strong to it. I've never really seen myself living past 25 or so... Call me pessimistic, but I've done a lot of bad in my life, I have a feeling it will come back to bite my ass off.

rht (who is 21, almost 22)

77 and I smoke. The education question has another factor built in. College graduates make more money then high school graduates, have a better lifestyle, and better access to health care.

By 2050, the life expenctancy could be over 120. I'm just hoping to glom on to some of that.
