Yeah, I’m speechless. If these chnges get implemented, Paladins will be playing a different game than the rest of us.

So should I roll up another bard or another paladin?

shatter the opponent

(1615) Repentance - renamed
Base chance to kneel changed from 35% to 100%

(1617) Zealot - Changed to AURA effect (physical offensive)
No longer forces groups to be offensive and no longer applies negative DS.

What.

The auras are fucking great, what the shit?

Yeah the changes to auras look good.

I was thinking of rolling up another bard but with the proposed changes to nerf bards I'm wondering if I should roll up another paladin.

I thought Zealot was racist?

I'm really, truly excited for this. I was super excited for the Ranger updates, and was hoping the Paladin updates could be even close to as awesome...

You're losing the DS from guard the meek, just as a note for the zealot DS change (the stance thing obviously great)

Is that really a problem?

if you're using not using a shield not rocking a shit ton of gear (so like, most of the people who play the game, even if they don't post here) potentially. just something not everyone noticed.

Yeah I noted this and was a tad concerned. But given you don't lose the Zealot DS any longer- it's candidly just a wash.

Wait...what about bards?

I've been putting off that desire to roll up a halfling paladin, now its going to be even more difficult to suppress.

I thought I read they were looking into reworking bards and it didn't sound like a bunch of buffs coming their way. Maybe I'm misremembering though.

Haven't played a paladin much personally, but they sound fun as hell from what I've heard.

Expect 1030 nerfs and spell aim requirements for some reason.

More people may start using shields now with the new update.

Paladins are boring to level.

I think a lot of classes are boring to level in the early phases, but as you both have more than my limited experience... fair enough, heh.

This is AWESOME! Time to resubscribe. I'm so stoked they incorporated an idea concept (in their own style) that I had recommended - the Aura system. Have to appreciate the efforts they are putting forward with the revamps, I'll give them that.

Edit: I'm also liking the apparent variance that will now be available with regards to combat. Really liking the 1625 changes, the consecrate flare changes, and the love being given a more magically aligned play style if one so chooses.

Also, heads up for paladins (and, possibly, rangers): there'll be a FIXSKILLS granted onces these changes go live, after being on the test server for however long.

Do we know anything about the timeline for these changes?

mgoddess

Not 100%, but I would hazard a guess possibly within the next few months, at least for seeing them on the test server instance... since it sounds like they're waiting for DR to finish, and then they'll be very close to turning Ascension on on the test server instance for testing, as well.

Ya, some theory crafting and final numbers will have to be seen - especially the lore cost and how those scale - before making final determinations on what to go for. With the consecrate changes, and a bit more magical focus orientation, think I can finally return to sword+board play style.

So couple questions if someone has knowledge and can clarify:

1609 - This will maintain it's current bonus to Block Chance correct? Increased with lores?

1611 - It will still add to AS, in addition to it's effects with regards to SMRs? Is the AS bonus capped based upon your CM training also, or uncapped like they stated it will be with SMR?

1615 - Will it still do damage on the knockdown, or because the % chance to kneel is now 100%, it only disables a creature?

1625 - I'm hoping read this one right, but if you bond a weapon and it obtains consecrate flares - they will remain even if you put VHCW on a weapon? Where as now they disappear if you go above HCW.

Thanks.
