Utopia

There was a similar sci fi game I was into around that same time. You'd build up different classes of space ships, upgrade your homeworld, form alliances with other people... and inevitably get wiped out by some thousand-player conglomerate at 2 AM. I don't even know if that type of game has a term for it except that they were popular in the late '90s/early '00s.

9k would be if someone has been premium the entire time.

Also 9k in fees in ~20 years isn't that big of a deal. People drop many times that on an old junk of a car just to fix it up so it will be worth less than the money they put into it.

It's a hobby. People need hobbies in their life and they tend to cost money.

Yeah that's all fair, and I agree, just crazy to put a number on it. I haven't been active all 30 years, but have had 4 accounts for a good bit, plus money spent on silver and events... it definitely adds up. Nice thing is, stuff in GS probably hold value better than said old car!

Yeah I'm not defending all of the paid events and SimuCoin store and all of that shit that Simu has been pushing lately. But just sub fees it's really not bad at all.

And I agree, GS items is one of the safest investments one can make. I'm only partly joking too.

Nethack: Played since the late 1980s...and I still play it. Sometimes I stop for a few months, but the game overall just doesn't get old.
GSIV: Played since 1991, although playing has been low for awhile.
Kingdom of Drakkar: Played from 1991 to 1999.

These three games account for 75% or so of my gaming the past 30 years. Good to see they all made the list.
