I've been wondering about this for a while but it always would have been off-topic. This is the perfect opportunity.

What the hell is up with wanting a big post count? All over the place I see "gotta up my post count" and I wonder what I am missing. What, you think a higher post count gives your opinions more weight? It's not IQ we're talking about here. It's not the more you post the smarter you get. It doesn't make you more respectable either. Like those players who have been around for 10 years and take that to mean they should be admired and respected. Intelligent posts that add something to the discussions are no less intelligent coming from someone who has only a few posts to their name.

Seriously, I hope there's a cash prize at the end or something. Some sort of race where the first one to reach so many posts wins something. That's the only reason that would make sense to me.

I haven't been posting here for long but already this has become my number 1 pet peeve.

Maybe if someone shows me why it is so important I will finally understand. So go ahead. List the reasons.

I dont think many people really care that much about it. Its just kinda neat to not be level 1.

Why is it neat to not be level 1 in gemstone? If your at least level 2 then you cant be confused with a new person. Your opinion is the same whether you have 2 posts or a million posts but having a history is nice. See ive posted some here so people know im a boob,they dont have to wonder.

Because people in a BB community tend to talk more and respond better to people who have been around a while, so when you only have 3 posts, you have no credibility in that community until you have proved yourself a good conversationalist, or interesting, or controversial or something else that makes it worth reading your posts.

I find it very silly! :) Especially since a lot of people with a HUGE post count have tons and tons of meaningless posts. I'd rather see a lower post count with substance in a large percentage of the posts.
