Ok so I have an IPOD now (20 GB). I want to get something with some different features than the IPOD. Specifically:
- I want one I can make playlists on the fly from the player (without hooking it to my computer).
- I want one that doesn't make me reload all my songs and playlists everytime I connect it to a different computer.
- I want one that has graphic equalizer and preferably one with a manual eq setting.
- excellent sounds
- 2 GB of music or more capacity
- 12+ hours of battery life
I guess those are the main ones. Anyone recommend something that fits the bill?

Uh you can make a playlist with iPod.
Hold down the middle button on a song and it adds it to the "On the Go" list. If you use the iPod updater, the new software can do multiple On the Go lists.
You lose.

"- I want one that doesn't make me reload all my songs and playlists everytime I connect it to a different computer."
Please don't tell me you have the auto-sync option on.

My Ipod is one of the older ones and doesn't support making playlists to my knowledge...I can try it tonight though.
Even with Autosync off you have to "authorize" the computer to modify things I think. I dislike this handicap so I am looking for a player without that function.
What "new software" would you be refering to? If it involves connecting my IPOD to the internet, that's a no-go. I don't have unlimited access due to our firewall. If it's something I can download and then install I can generally do it though.

a good alternative to Ipod is the Iriver series.
Yea. I'm up in mosul and the Iriver works great for me. The flash variety only comes in up to 1gb which is what I have but they do have bigger versions.

anyone know what that thing they advertised during the superbowl that was like an mp3 player and a camera? I'm looking into getting one of those, but I can't remember what it was called.
