spell advise for 70s ranger

just hit lvl 71, am sword and board ambush solo Hunter and I tend to uphunt a bit. I use a spell nearly every critter, I mix it up with sounds, spike, vine and swarm. at lvl 71 I am 50/20 ranger / spirit. and currently have 13 ranks in summoning.
my question is to get more bang for my buck with my spells should I get more ranger ranks, more summoning ranks, or what is a good mix?

Drop the lore for now and try to get your ranger ranks closer to your level. Ranger ranks divided by level of target is a fairly important factor in the Spike Thorn's success, and it's especially important when up-hunting. 616 works "fine" at 50 ranks, I'm sure, and you'll get lucky hits, too, but at or above your level, your spike thorn will completely eviscerate your targets. Admittedly, at-level spell ranks are expensive (and you should keep the 20 MnS), but they also offer DS and TD benefits (613, 618) and CS benefits (635), etc.
