I read lots of positive reviews on this game and I'm very interested in the game after watching this video. But, I haven't played previous versions of the game. will it be interesting or possible to play streets of rage 4 directly without playing other versions of the game?

Yeah the story is pretty meaningless. The combat is pretty good though. It's mostly just mashing like any old school beat 'em up but there's a little more to it, has juggle combos, etc.

Only shitty thing is 4 player co-op is offline only. Online is only 2 players. Which is weak af in 2020. Hopefully they'll patch that and not be cunts.

Like most side-scrolling beat 'em ups, the story is extremely dense and complex, rivaling the works of Dostoyevsky or Joyce, and deals with themes of abandonment, existentialism, and materialism. In fact, Ulysses is said to be heavily inspired by the first Streets of Rage due to its stream of consciousness style. I would not attempt this without a firm understanding of the series.

I assumed this was a game of liberals getting angry over the 2020 election.
